  1. yes understand but someone must have been dyslexic definitely an r under the f and part of an r sticking out of d , gona put it on ebay unique one of a kind starting bid £50,000 for those who think they have everything but hav'nt 😃
  2. when i was at school which wasn't in the 1860s if i'd made mistakes like there is on these sovs i would have had red ink marks in my books heres another the date has run on this 1861 must have used liquid gold 😏
  3. definitely an r under the f curly bit the foot of an r and i believe bit sticking out of d is foot of r but all irrelevant doesn't matter if its got micky mouse under them still only worth 8 grams of 22ct gold , ive got 1861 sov the date looks as if its been put on with liquid gold its got runs yet ive got george 3rd and they are perfect
  4. so the large 0 and the misaligned 6 are common what about these other faults with the F and the D having what i believe is an R underneath them is this common as well ? When you read marsh he lists faults as rare 1 or 2 etc but in fact they are common and are not relevant to value of coin

  6. regarding values of sovereigns i have read on this site full sov £380 to £400 and half sov £180 to £200 the1860 full sov i have with letters underneath other letters and what looks like a large O in date and the 1878 half sov with unlisted die no 68 how much more would they be worth thanks in advance
  7. iv'e taken some photos of my 1878 half sov what iv'e had for over a year and never looked at i really need to inspect every coin michael a marsh is feeding my brain 😇 also i take it die no 68 isn't listed because no ones come across it ?
  8. further to my vic 1866 die no 78 i have now seen it in listed marsh ( eyesight ) must go to opticians , i now have found out i have a 1878 half sovereign with die no 68 what i cant find in marsh , until a few weeks ago i didn't even know there was die numbers starting to inspect my coins more with microscope . every days a schoolday
  9. thanks for info marsh book was new but obviously old stock, theirs lots to learn with these sovereigns and lots to read and digest difficult for an old brain but very interesting , and i'm very grateful for advice ☺️
  10. im beginning to feel like im bamber gasgoine questions questions. i have an 1866 sov with die number 78 ive recently purchased marsh book and its not listed in there why ?
  11. thanks for advice guys especially about cleaning as when looking on ebay coins look new and shiny i thought mine were dirty and was going to clean them but wont do now cheers

  13. hi i am totally new to sovereign collecting but ive just got book by marsh and he lists and rates errors on coins i have an 1860 full sovereign with what looks like an r under d in fid and another under f in def and its not listed in book why ? and is it worth more or less than perfect coin ? baffled
  14. its so widespread now on e bay packages sent with different coin in others with no coin and its oh i put coin in buyer must be pulling a con wanting the coin and their money back its getting to the point where your going to have to get a notary to verify it and post it ( thats if the notary can be trusted ) liars cheats big part of society post office lying government lying its a minefield 💣
  15. unfortunately this is the way buying coins is going ebay lots on there wherever there is the chance of a con people will try it ,they spread word round and before long all con artists are doing it you just cant trust anyone where moneys concerned as we all know
