Altitudes reacted to westminstrel in Royal Mint - Great Engravers 2021 - Gothic Crown information
As far as I know, the 10 Oz piedfort silver for the Three Graces was not directly sold by the Royal Mint - it was sold exclusively by a dealer. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
I assume the same might be the case this time around too.

Will there be extra high quality control on this release? Seemed even the Sovereign had issues this year which was disappointing.

Thanks for the pics, will be nice if we see some of the other finishes/gold as well as people get them.

Where was this purchased? At BCC?

The 2022 gold bullion Britannias were noticeably better than the silver ones, at least from the small sample I looked at.
I can't really speak for the US Mint, we don't distribute any of their new proof coins, but the older ones I have seen look OK.

What about scratches and contact marks? Are they far less prevalent than the silver proofs? Would hope with the higher price on gold proofs that the QC would be stricter but not exactly the case with the US Mint.

The mintage will be high, only the sets will sell out tomorrow. Ebay will be awash with overpriced offerings even as the Mint has unsold stock. Flippers will make a little in the first few days then the resale price will dip below retail. The first few to offer graded 70s will make a killing then the price will plummet and not recover for several years. The bullion coin will be the same design which will further depress the proof price.😁
but it will all be good fun😉

"The Great Engravers Collection continues with the first of two coins paying homage to the Gothic Crown, one of the most beautiful coins ever struck by
The Royal Mint. Sign up below to be one of the first to hear about our upcoming release."
From the info on RM webpage, it seems that they will release 2 designs separately (?)...

It's crazy isn't it. The mintage was 210,000, which seems like a large number - but compared with the rest I guess it isn't, and the relatively low mintage is exacerbated by people keeping hold of them when they find one, thus making them even rarer in the wild. You'd be extremely lucky to find one today even if you sifted through dozens of big bags of 50ps from a bank.
Here's an eBay auction for a circulated one that sold for £160, which seems even crazier when you can get uncirculated ones for less! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kew-Gardens-50p-Original-Genuine-Circulated-great-condition-2009-Rare-/403222335467

@Altitudes
Yup. As Paul says, it’s the 2009 Kew Gardens released for circulation that has one of the lowest mintages of circulation coins.
Strangely (or maybe shrewdly!) the RM released a silver proof version again in 2019, and I guess people just automatically got on the Kew Gardens bandwagon thinking it would become sought after too. In reality, the 2019 silver proof Kew Gardens is no rarer than any other RM silver proof coin.

It's most likely due to the fact that the circulated version is so rare. Even a bruised up circulated Kew Gardens coin is worth quite a lot to some people!

Coins are starting to arrive. Fun fun.
I ended up getting #oo6 for two coins!
10 oz Silver and 2 oz Gold. They both look awesome. @BackyardBullion posted pics of the 10 oz but here are some pics of the 2 oz gold in case you haven’t seen it in the wild yet. The size and clarity of the Panther is perfect.

Yep, that's probably the most interesting thing about this. Maybe it's just site maintenance and they put the wrong message up?
