Shergar reacted to Gildeon in Full Stack / Full Collection Photos
Decided to photograph my whole 1967 collection (well, about 90% of it actually...) with the start of the new year. Let's see what additions will come by the end of 2020. 🧐

Full stack although a little dated. Recently added $120 face value in .50 Franklin's and Kennedy's : )
When I started in this forum a year ago (just now returning after hiatus), I had 1000 ozs stacked (hence the user name). Guess I have to change my name now 1400+ ozs lol.
V/r, 1000 ozs

A six ounce silver copy of one of the worlds rarest coins, the 1933 Double Eagle. Only 13 coins in existence and only one in private hands. Fascinating story if you want to look it up. Theft, court cases, a king and the US secret service all involved, amongst others.
Last sold in 2002 for $7.6 million.

Well I received 2 thing's yesterday but the best thing I received today was MY NEW BORN BABY DAUGHTER.
I will put up another thread on later when things settle a bit, as she was born with some issues ( that we knew about) to highlight the condition etc. But @Bullionbilly said he would like an update when she arrived.
Back to the shiny. 2 lovely integral first year issue 1982 Mexican libertad's from @CookieMonster and a lovely 1887 half sovereign from @gold

Shergar reacted to richatthecroft in Website for comparing UK prices for gold sovereigns, britannias, etc
I think this statement is quite right- everyone is entitled to make their own decisions in terms of pegging their product selling price.
But, I think people here are disappointed as they feel cheated as he/she wasn’t transparent in terms of this being a commercial venture- and essentially the Forum were taken for a ride in terms of being used as some kind of uninformed focus group.
For me, I really don’t see much value in the site- I had a quick look at it and it told me what I kind of already knew, give or take a quid or two.
I think comparison sites are fab for the drudge in life- insurance, life insurance, pet insurance, car insurance....snoooooze, 💤 💤 Boring.
For me, there’s nothing better than turning up a gem of a coin unexpectedly- much prefer finding stuff in the ‘real world’ - tat and antique shops, coin shops & fairs, antique fairs, auction rooms and from a friend of a friends Aunt....I could go on.
The internet has already sanitised all of our lives- a couple of clicks less to buy simply dumbs life down further.
Just my opinion- the thrill of the chase keeps us on our toes and adds value to our individual collecting stories... any thoughts?

Disappointed.
You came on here as an unpaid member and picked the forum's brains as to the content we desired. We liked the idea and helped you to improve your website.
Why is your country United States?

And since we were speaking about Swiss silver coins, here is my 1967 set. The 1/2 franc has the single highest grade in the NGC census.

Well I got a surprise today from the wife, and I was really surprised, she knew I was after some silver Reichmarks from the Third Reich era and that I had been having 'fun' trying to get some on here, but usually leaves me to find this kind of stuff as I am very picky about condition and whether or not the item is genuine or not as I am when buying any militaria.
While she was away on business she visited the towns market in her lunch break and saw this among others for sale and decided to take a risk and buy it me, when she told me over the phone I was like 'oh god what has she bought and how much has she spent' , she only paid £6.50 for it so it wasn't any hardship if it was rough or fake, but I was pleasantly surprised when she finally arrived home, I am more than pleased with it, no idea what grade it would be, but to be honest I am not bothered as I just wanted a nice one.
Doing a little research from books and the net I came up with the following info about Third Reich era Reichsmarks coins (blame them if any info is wrong ),
In 1933 Hitler comes into power, the 2 & 5 Reichsmarks coins are the same until about 1934/35 when small swastikas appear under the wings of the Imperial eagle.
In 1936 the old Imperial eagle is replaced by the Third Reich eagle, Hindenburg's portrait remains on the back of the coins as before.
In 1939 production stops of Reichsmarks coins, as silver and metal is needed for the war effort and are replaced by paper notes
Hitlers portrait never appeared on any Third Reich era coins for some reason, it did on some postage stamps but never coins, I don't know why (if anyone does let me know)
The 2 Reichsmarks coins were made in .625 silver
The 5 Reichsmarks coins were made in .900 silver
As a consequence the larger and softer 5 Marks seem harder to find in better condition than the smaller 2 Marks coins.
During the Third Reich era there was 7 mints in Germany making these coins, each one had its own code letter which was on the left hand side reverse of the coin under the date of Hindenburg's reign, below is the codes and mints they were allocated.
A = Berlin
B = Wien (Vienna)
D = München (Munich)
E = Muldenhütten (Dresden)
F = Stuttgart
G = Karlsruhe
J = Hamburg
Around the rim of the 2 & 5 Reichmarks coins is the inscription 'Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz' which roughly translates to 'The community comes before the individual'
The 2 Reichsmark coin is roughly the same size as a modern UK 10p coin, I have shown it next to a 1939 production Walther PPK for scale.

Bought 26 dimes from ebay. Price was okay.
Seller messaged me that wasnt able to ship them like promised, because of work. I did reply; thats not a problem.
Thought that i walked in scam.
Then week later received partial refund. Seller messaged that shipment did cost less than expected, so thats the reason.
I thought that this really is a scam.
Today i received a letter. There was 26 dimes and 3 extra quarters. Plus postcard where seller had written "thank you for patience".
Now postcard is on my fridge door and im thinking how i write awesome ebay feedback 😄

As my small neodymium magnet didn't show satisfying results for my gold coins, I ordered a bigger one which I received today.
It also helped me to separate my copper pennies from my copper plated steel pennies without going through the date of each coin.
