I think this is more of what @Solachesis was talking about. With the increased price in gold (and hopefully steady progression) more people are starting to think CGT wise. Especially if they do lower the threshold I becomes even more prevalent. Meaning that UK coins (Sovereign/ Britannia) become a "easier" sell than foreign coins. That's not to say you can't have any, nor you will not be able to shift them. But if you thinking over time the CGT free coins have to play a part, especially as you have said you have gold bars already and they will use up that allowance.

I should be good, any profit I made was instantly mitigated by the losses I take on the other 98% of the coins I sell.
That, and I'm not shifting anywhere near the threshold.

Both nice, try doing a royal mint special .. put them both in a nice box and sell the two as ‘special last and first’ coins?🤔🤔 make a fortune!

Finally got an answer from the SA mint regarding the big 5 bullion coins.
Right we have the Elephant, which I have in fact just received today, dated 2022. Same design will appear in years 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026
The the Lion will take over for another 5years. Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo will then follow with 5 year stints.
So the first Buffalo will not appear until 2042!  By then I will probably pushing up the daisies so will just have the Elepahant.
So if one was keen you could go 5 coins or if very keen 25 coins

I just bought myself one of these. It's the first time I've bought a non-UK coin, so comparing it to the Britannia: my first impression on opening the envelope was that it's nowhere near as shiny, and the design looks to be much flatter than the Britannia. So initially I was a bit disappointed. But it's so detailed! I can look at it for so much longer than the Britannia, and I keep picking out more detail every time. Just changing the angle slightly causes the light to pick up completely different parts of the design and makes the coin look totally different. Therefore it's grown on me very quickly, and now I'm glad I bought it, but it did need a bit of effort to get there.
Up-thread (a couple of months ago) somebody asked for photos, so here is my best effort. I'm off to read the threads about taking better photos now!

Honestly I've been staring at it for over a week in my basket, it's stunning imho and likely going to get bought soon, just playing mind games with myself Currently.

Its all to easy to get tempted  with a really nice designed coin for different parts of the world. I'm guilty of it myself. Wise words from @Solachesis stay with UK legal tender coins. To be fair there is so much variety with the humble Sovereign. Bullion, Proof, Special editions. Years, Monarch's, the list goes on. Some costing little more than spot others costing a small terraced house.
My collection is mostly built up from bullion but in purchasing on a regular basis with local dealers I've also managed to pick up so gem's. Most recent was a collection for little more than spot. In it were 2 boxes with COA 2017 proof sovereigns. I gave £370 each. I think they are at £1100ish.

I'm in the process of shifting to a majority UK stack, I've lost money on a lot of the foreign coins I've gone through as people didn't really want them, and I reduced them to get them gone. It's all a learning experience!

Don't go too big on the non-UK stuff because you will find that is subject to CGT if you make substantial gains.
You might think about Queens Beasts (not sure about the Tudor Beasts series) but there should be plenty to keep you interested with sovereigns and Britannias.

Sovereigns as a staple. Although the quarter sovereign seems to be gaining more interest, Myself, I stick to the full or half. Some of the larger sovereigns are nice to own as well. The Britannia's are a good coin also. Basically as @Seasider says look for coins that are CGT free. I think you'll find these will be quite liquid in the future should you need to sell.

Does make me chuckle. Pre sale for a bloomin bullion sovereign. How about just mint 10’s of Thousands and sell them when they’re ready to actually be sent out to paying customers

Thanks... it takes time and patience. Waiting for the right prices and the right coins to come up. Its pretty flexible as there is no rules to follow really. I made my own rule to get ten different coins from 10 different countries. Its a rewarding collection though. I love it.

Quick update on my 1/10th and 1oz silver set. It's starting to come along now. Just 2 more 1oz silver to get. I need a 2018 philharmonic and a yet unknown date on a krugerrand. I need to find a 1/10th Gold krugerrand between a 2017 and present date before I can partner it up with its silver cousin. I've also swapped out my 2021 gold and silver brits for a 2003 pair. Makes it just that little bit more unique. I've added some snaps showing the le semeuse pair together and the 2003 pair together as they are the most recent additions.  And obviously a family snap shot of the all together. I'm also going to need some black ring air-tites for the silver to make it all tie together as smartly as I can make them.

Have to be careful doing this as with anything, there is associated risks. If people get suspicious that your trying to avoid paying Tax then you will be charged that and then a fine on top

Nice video, hadn't seen it before.
It is not the one I saw, that one had a round slug inside a real coin that was (very expertly) engineered to cut off the top and create a perfect hole for the tungsten slug (it was smooth).
It looked like half of the original coin mass was retained, it was not a thin wrapper. Everything you'd touch (ridges and all) would be original.
    I found it alarmingly good

Hi, I am sorry, but my bet will be anytime on a silver spoon. I will never hesitated to buy fully hallmarked silver spoons, any purity from .800 to .925.
About flogging them, at the correct price will fly in minutes.
Believe me, I have sold hundreds so far.😊
