Picked up a few more Intaglio 2 oz High Relief Modern Tributes to round out the collection.  Their quality is always top notch and I have yet to see any Intaglio mint coins spot.
The St Gaudens 1cent (top left), Peace Dollar (top right), and Morgan are new.  Unfortunately I didn't have a capsule yet for the Morgan.

It doesn't always hold true as some guys just want to deal outside of Ebay to save on fees (which is understandable) but the warning signs for Ebay listing scams are typically :
    1. 100% positive feedback but it's been made private so you can't see the item details nor the item value.  They set up another account and then list 1p items on their primary account and buy them with their secondary account (or vv.).  After the fake sales have completed they leave glowing positive feedback for each other.  They make it private so that you can't see all the items were 1p, making it obvious they've been shilling their feedback rating.  Most people don't look beyond a 100% feedback rating.
    2. stating "No Paypal, bank transfer only" and wanting to deal outside of Ebay.
    3. new accounts with little to no history.
    4. accounts with high feedback but their history is all purchases and the last purchase was made several months ago.  The sudden appearance of a high value sale item is often a indication that the account has been hacked.
    5. descriptions saying they're selling it on behalf of someone else, don't know anything about it, not sure if genuine or not, no returns allowed etc etc.  They know full well that it's fake.
    6. fuzzy/blurry photos.

The above is probably old news to most people but might be helpful to the less savvy internet users when looking for bargains on Ebay.

    We have a conclusion!
First off, thank you all for your contributions. It's super helpful having a community like this to share knowledge. Sorry if I missed anyone!
    I took the coins back to the dealer today who was actually very good about it. Conclusion was;
1915 - good! It's tests as 22ct, which is consistent with the suggested findings from the specific gravity test. It's weight is also good. Per the consensus on this thread, it appears it may have a mint error mark. The dealer had no concerns with it.
1903 - not good! The chap barely had it in his hand a few seconds before scowling, apologising and saying it shouldn't have been sold. He didn't give much more information than that, but it's going for melt and I took another half home as a replacement (which weighs and measures good).
p.s. If anyone tells me the below is a fake I may have a heart attack 😨😂

My sacle with the same accuracy weighs up to 200 g and even with that the water container needs to rather small. I'm only guessing but I think this very small water container might be the cause for the inacurracy.
I have tried this threadless method too but without any specific water basked, basically just a random can, hanging under the sacle, inside the water. That was a friend's scale though, mine would have been unsuitable for this method.

silenceissilver got a reaction from Melon in Size differences in sovereigns - any cause for concern?
From my experience, not that much, I too thought maybe the accuracy goes down with half sovereigns (at at time when I only had one half sovereign, the rest of what I had was all full sovereigns). I turned out it was not the string but it was fake indeed, 18K Gold, as mentioned in other threads, before.
I have used dental flosses and thought, maybe that's too big threads but I don't think it is, even for half sovereigns. If you used normal sewing threads, it will impact the accuracy even less.
Having said that, you must have made something wrong, your control object, the quarter maple, is way off which makes all the other results questionable, in my opinion.
    What was your exact set-up?

This is my entire gold and silver stack. The candy cane is a complimentary gift from Chards when I ordered some silver Koalas. I don’t want to spoil the fun by revealing all my coin collection. Anyone keeping up with my other posts will get a good idea what the air-tite tubes contain when I showcase the actual coins themselves at various times. This took me a year and a half to stack.

Here's pretty much my full stack as it currently stands.  Mostly gold, but with 30 oz of silver and 2 oz of platinum.
No more additions for me now until next year, when I aim to finish of the Queen's Beasts in 1/4 oz and 1 oz gold bullion and add a 2020 sovereign.  Anything else will be an impulse or value buy!

Full stack although a little dated.  Recently added $120 face value in .50 Franklin's and Kennedy's : )
When I started in this forum a year ago (just now returning after hiatus), I had 1000 ozs stacked (hence the user name).  Guess I have to change my name now 1400+ ozs lol.
    V/r, 1000 ozs
