There are aspects of my pension that will do well if indices struggle, generally they are a drag but they help mitigate risk. 
However, you have to ask what event would cause every company to suddenly be devalued by 80%, different companies, bonds, guilts, savings, property etc. do well during different scenarios it would have to be something like nuclear war for everything to fail that way - at that point why wouldnt gold or silver be devalued too?
For the most part recessions provide a rare opportunity to start look at investing for real profit in the stock market

You know given the current state of the UK economy and the erosion of peoples income this may one of the few places you can make a complaint like that and recieve genuine acknowledgement that this is indeed a hardship. 🤣
 I'm actually amazed this site hasn't been infiltrated by communists and our conversation posted over social media completely out of context.

Love the design and super happy with the quality of these coins. I do agree that it does (design-wise) in some aspects look clustered together on a full sovereign but I believe the double sovereign version will possibly be one of my all time favourites as it is the perfect size to fully absorb the sheer beauty of the design. Better spacing and much better size/feel when you hold it too! I haven't got one yet but it'll probably be next on the wish list.

But I also predict amazing upside on gold this year so will be holding on to a good half as usually these bulls last for several years. Whatever happens, gold always fights inflation and is better than in a bank being turned in to fake fiat.

For me, I'm waiting for the bottom of the S&P, then will sell some PMs for investment in that. Or maybe pay off some of my rental property. Not sure what other stocks I'm going to go for yet (I've a list of various areas I'm interested in, but I have a good few books to read through first). I think S&P could bottom within 12 months - way lower than where it is now. Maybe another 30% (if previous crashes are anything to go by anyway).
There's a mid-bear market bull-run at the moment giving people false hopes before a huge drop (hence the current drop in PMs in my opinion). Of course I can't bet my life on that, but this is also a repeat pattern in history so I'm predicting it'll repeat again. However things are more delayed nowadays thanks to the Gov controlling the media with nonsense smoke and mirrors information (hence the delayed panic then crash scenario...)
Also, we need to consider all the nonsense in the world (plan-demics, war etc), meaning things could turn to sh*t much quicker....  ("Ooh look a UFO!" situation also happened just before Pearl Harbour which makes me a little paranoid - but maybe I'm being a bit too tin-foiled hat there 😬)
Anyway, in a nutshell, I think the markets are going to drop much lower pretty much everywhere apart from PMs any time within the next 12 months (but wouldn't be surprised if it happened very soon). 

I think so looks like a nice healthy pull back to me. 
 
Which ones - and for buy and holds? sector or specific stocks?
I still think we have major downside still at least to the pre cough-id highs.
Maybe lows if we see financial institutions & and the bond markets buckle. 

Everyone has been predicting amageddon - even buffet is Bearish! 😛 
I think often as these cycles take so long, people get bored or forget at times.

Reading an article on FT about russians buying more gold. Found it interesting until i read the last paragraph 🤦‍♂️
