Few more for the folder. Love the Fiji coins although they're only .500 and the Australian crown is a serious bit of silver to circulate in 1937!

Another wonderful package from @DavePanda today!

And adding to that a rare 1995 "micro" date from @Agpanda yesterday I've started collecting my varieties in earnest now!

    That completes my 1995 varieties:

So my collection is approaching completion. I will have doubles of every date from 1989 to present with all varieties  (if I can find the very rare 1999 large date serif and 2000 mirror ring)

An upgrade to my British Palestine typeset - 1935 100 mils. I have no hope of ever getting high grade examples of the key dates as Mrs ST will not allow the house to be remortgaged

2 more big ones for the folder
1871 Spanish 5 pesetas in great condition and a slightly more worn but equally as lovely 1897 Russian ruble. These Russian rubles have quite a high premium but are a great size and have lovely designs

Postman brought me some big ones today a French 1845 5 francs, Spanish 1888 5 pesetas featuring the 2 year old Alonso XIII, and my favourite, a Mexican 1896 8 reales.
All in pretty good condition and added to the collection

Its been a while since I put any coins on here, that's because I have not found any good enough for sale that I wanted lately, then several came all at once, the first of them arrived today.
This is a British India 1 Rupee coin, dated 1942 and made of .500 silver.
This coin was the largest of the silver British Indian coins that was issued, its size and weight was just under that of a British 1/2 Crown of the same era.
The first 1 Rupee to feature George VI head appeared in 1938 and was only made for two years, 1938 & 1939, these coins were made from .917 silver and had a reeded edge, not many were minted, in 1940 the silver content went down to .500, and this type was made in huge numbers, then in 1942 a new feature was incorporated to prevent counterfeits, a security edge was added to the coins, this version was made until 1945 when silver was stopped being used in the coins.
1942 was the lowest mintage year by far and only one mint made them that year and there was no known variations which was unusual for these coins.
Production figures of the third type GRVI 1 Rupee are as follows
    1942,  7,352,000      Bombay Mint
    1943,  65,995,000   Bombay Mint
    1944,  146,206,000 Bombay Mint
    1944,  91,400,000   Lahore Mint
    1945,  142,666,000  Bombay Mint
    1945,  118,126,000    Lahore Mint

I wonder why modern bullion coins don't do something like this to make them harder to copy

Has a sculptor signature so will research it.

Following my initial attempt to add the the third 2 oz Silver Bleyer Hand Poured Rectangular Owl Bar for 2020, Caroline at @BleyerBullion was able to find one of the last available after it was quickly out of stock. Thank you Caroline for helping me add this beauty to my continued Rectangle Owl bar collection and ability to further help you with your contributions to The Barn Owl Trust!

Even our very own backyard Barred Owl approves!!!

Countries issuing coins equivalent to the French 20 gold francs are Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Danish West Indies, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Leichenstein, Romania and Switzerland - it is only Belgium and Switzerland that call them francs though!
One of my expensive coins is a Napoleon AN13 gold 20 francs from the Perpignan mint (Q) with a mintage of only 522 - the very few known in EF (couple? slabbed AU grade) are silly money - sold a bunch of sovereigns to pay for it but I hope it will do better in the long run

The Napoleonic coinage of Italy is full of varieties, overdates, recut dies between mints etc, plus the reference books generally do not agree with one another or use the same terminology!
Like an idiot I thought I would try and sort it all out and just keep finding more and more unrecorded varieties, and mint state coins are not common either which makes things even more difficult. The mints at Bologna, Milan and Venice must have been a complete shambles compared to the French mints. A retirement project I think 😄

Another Napoleon - this time one from Italy, a 1810M 1 Lira, only 33 more to go for the full set 😄 (probably impossible even in VF but you have to try!)

This arrived today, its a 1934 dated, New Zealand 3 pence, with George V, and made from .500 silver.
This coin design was first minted in 1933 and was made for 4 years until replaced by coins featuring George VI in 1937.
The reverse featured a traditional Maori battle club called a Patu, and this was used on all the 3 pence coins up to the reign of Elizabeth 2nd.
Many were minted despite the 4 year run, but not many have survived in AU or UNC condition being pretty well worn.
    Production is as follows
    1933,  6,000,000
    1934,  6,000,000
    1935,  40,000
    1936,  2,760,000

Smaller and thinner than a modern Uk 5p, its tiny
