Today I received a few nice pieces of world gold, starting with this fantastic 1916 Peru Una Libra courtesy of @Leonmarsh.
This is the first of a handful of coins on their way across the ocean from Leon. I had to judge from photos to decide on this piece and I must say, his photos dont do this coin justice! In person it looks as if it could've been minted in 2016. Clean luster, only very light marking from being stacked in tubes or in bags over the decades. Wouldnt be surprised if it had spent considerable time sitting in a vault or collection undisturbed. Would easily grade on the MS spectrum, IMHO.
Mintage of approx. 500,000, same dimensions and gold content as a Sovereign.
Second piece is one of my favorite old school bullion coins, the Mexican 50 peso. Im not sure how common or popular these are in the UK or Europe. Even in North America they get almost no love. The modern Mexican Libertads are well known for their low mintages and high premiums, but these older pieces are all but forgotten.
37mm in diameter with a whopping 1.2057 ozt, these coins are absolute bricks! You know you're holding gold when you hold one.
They were minted mostly during the 1920s and early 30s, and then again towards the end of WWII. Afterwards, they minted numerous restrikes using the 1947 date mold.

Today arrived the second spherical coin in the barbadian 1 OZ planets series, Mercury. Looks way better than the first one, Mars. First time after a couple of years, i openedΒ  my 2 OZ Galileo 450 years anniversary box with a little real moonstone. I was searching for a 3 OZ spherical earth, same outer packaging. Somewhere i must have a coin with a little peace of a meteorite. πŸ€”Next time.
    I love days like these😊

Some more Β£5 Silver Proof’s. Β The Royal Birth coins areΒ Bergdahl designed and a nice design. Β
The Sapphire Jubilee is a duplicate- but also a lovely design as is the Century of the House of Windsor.
And taking the rough with the smooth in this batch- a design monstrosity of the Royal Wedding.

Commemorating Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday this is a lovely 5oz Silver Proof coin. Β I’m not keen on these rather silly looking oversized slabs, but there’s always the hammer.

Received this back from NGC last week but thought it would be more appropriate to share today, on the 65th anniversary of Ghana’s independence πŸ‡¬πŸ‡. Also have the raw silver in the original case. Shout out to @DuncanWylieWilsonΒ who has one for sale currently, beautifully tonedΒ

I bought a collection of Roman coins from @DakarasΒ a few days ago. Sadly when he posted them there were 11 but when they arrived the envelope was wet through and four were missing. (We’d both like to know what happened to them).
@DakarasΒ amazingly sent me a right mix of his metal detecting finds as well as refunding part of the cost. He honestly didn’t need to do this and he knows that I’m truly grateful.
I love history and the musket ball is most likely lead, heavy and a true piece of history, as is it all.
I wonder if the piece of pipe could talk, the stories it’s heard.
I’ll share photos of the Roman coins, my original purchase,Β in the next few days but I’m truly humbled by @DakarasΒ offer to compensate for the lost coins.
    Here’s what he sent:
    Apologies for the c**p photo.

"2 out of 3 ain't bad" as the late great Meat Loaf once said. Most pleasing to me is the 2005 gold Eagle. Bullion coins can be used and abused so really happy to get that result especially as it was bought as a plain bullion buy on the forum. Two are definitely keeper's, the third I'm not sure.
    No complaints though overall πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Many thanks to Lousie at @CoinsOfTheRealmAuctions for the super smooth grading service.
