Much better choice in my opinion mate

NGC or PCGS wouldn't have had any intentional involvement in that.
The risk to their reputation, is not worth it.
Just wondered if coins were sent directly to NGC or PCGS in America 🇺🇸 or direct to a 3rd party e.g a representative that didn't take good care of the coins before shipping to America?
Very sad 😔

Right behind you mate, I cancelled £8-£9k worth of silver. Voting with my money and trying to hit them where it hurts, but then again someone will snap them up 🙄
Bought 2022 Bullion Sovs 😃

For sure, I am thinking about just leaving silver alone for now and wait. I cancelled my order for the latest British monarchs 2oz silver because I don't want it raw and grading there is now that added risk. Never mind all the other QC issues we already have and milk spots.

Both direct and 3rd party have had the issue mate and also PCGS and NGC slabs have shown these burn marks.
My coin was also not conserved

What I don't get is surely they should be contacting customers about this, not just sending them back. I assume there is some sort of insurance but not sure as I have always sent through third party.

Are the coins sent directly to NGC without burn marks or is a 3rd party involved somewhere in the process?

Seeing more and more of this. I have 2 with the burn.
When I spoke to NGC on Friday they recon the damage could be caused by the flips splitting and the rubber bands they use contacting the coins, then the chemicals in the band's being the issue. It would kinda make sense as the damage is usually the same size on all coins.
I'm doing a rubber band test on a bullion silver coin to see if I can get it to happen. So if grading I'd say send in a capsule from now on just in case.

Why are there hairs there? Looks like the grader used the coin as a mirror to shave his beard 😄

Shocking, I prefer blondes personally.

The hairs/fibers too 😱
NGC need to up their game. I’m seeing small time Pokémon game card graders using dust free environments on a minuscule budget with better QC and care taken than these huge corporations (NGC).
Keeping my silver raw until further notice 😬

I’ve had similar. That’s why they say buy the coin not the grade. Some 70s will look better to some buyers than others I guess 🤷♂️
Congrats on the grade though! 70
is a very good indication 😃

An update on this coin..
I thought I would take the gamble and send this coin in for grading.
I am pleased to say it is on its way back as a 70 😎
Maybe zooming in on a coin with my camera isn’t the thing to do in the future.. 💫

As @Paulo did mention, this was a Plain Edge, it would have just been ok for a PF70 milled edge, but a disapointing price for a PF70 Plain Edge IMHO. There was also a Sovereign 2022 5 coin set with a PF69 5 Sov, (other coins PF70) sold at £6500... I don't know if this is a new underlying trend, but the market for modern collectible coins seems soft and seeks itself, maybe with uncertainty and a rising price of gold that makes liquidity (bullion coins) more sought after. The problem could also come from too many releases leading to market saturation (that's just my feeling and other opinions are welcome)

I think this is a plain edge, as per the photo and the description
But,does not mention this in the heading description, someone got a bargain? wish I had £12000

It’s all over the Facebook groups at the moment. People send a perfect silver coin to NGC and then it comes back looking like this (not my coin).
We think it has something to do with NGC’s coin holder for inspection or their NCS conservation process (dipping coins to remove particles before grading). 🤷♂️
*Possibly the sonic sealing process 🤔 *
Either way, until it stops I’m not grading any more. NGC are blaming RM and RM are blaming NGC. 😬
