Shouldn't you hide the Barcode too in that case? 🤔 if someone has a barcode reader, I'm guessing they could read the number...?

Stops counterfeiters producing geniune serial numbered slabs, with fake coins. And it's actually a thing, because I had one a few years ago. Checked out on website, but coin was blatantly fake.

Simonz reacted to SilverDrum in Question about 2022 memorial 5 sov quality
This is showing how they polish coins. It was very interesting being in the polishing room on the VIP mint tour. They let you hold die's, the wood and the diamond compound. Really is amazing how old the technique is.

Thoughts
1 If you are paying a honking premium for a 5 coin proof set and theres the slightest issue you have every right to ask for a replacement. The problem comes with the good old RM can't or won't get you a replacement and its faster and easier to make the problem go way by giving you a refund......I'm the veteran when it comes to this scenario.
2, it utterly pains me to see coins straight out of the mint that need conserving, I've had loads of 1/4's like this and a few half that I have conserved without too much effort.
3. the jubilees had the same greasy, flaky pickup on the surfaces and they graded very well, only the odd one out of 100's got a 69 or less so there was a remarkable hit rate.
4, would i personally risk it, thats a hard question on the £5 a full or smaller than yes I'd just conserve first then also submit with conservation just as an added precaution, the £5 is where all the real profit/future stored value is so its a very difficult one to try and swallow if it comes back a 69.
I'm conserving some more 2022 proof memorial sovereigns this week with the same greasy marks I'll show you some before and after.........
This is just a few coins I've done, good to see the copper spot gone from the surface of the coin.

Indeed there are several variations of the YH portrait. Some have subtle differences while other are more prominent.

They were always re-engraving the portrait and reverse for new dies. It happened quite often, not annually by any means but often enough for people to notice and for the differences to be documented. There is still the odd difference cropping up from time to time.

1895 Old Vic with white balance
This is an 1895 Mourning Head Victoria sovereign that I got from the coin show today. With this one, I took the photo with a grey card and adjusted the white balance from it.

1895 Mourning Vic
Found this nice Old Vic at the coin show today. In one of the vendors priceless seconds boxes, so purchased at bullion prices. Nonetheless in fairly good condition and quite photogenic.

A very quiet month last month for buying stuff whilst waiting for the memorial sovs to land but did buy a couple of things on the TSF pass the parcel. First was two lovely proof Brits from @Orpster
Also I added to the pot of Tudor Beasts and 2022 sovs. Time to move onto memorial sov bullion next.

From yesterday.
I'm very with happy three out of four of them. Frustratingly, the quarter literally looks like it has a partial fingerprint on the obverse. Can you return single coins in sets?
To my untrained eye, the rest look grading worthy. Really good.
