There was a proclamation published yesterday: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/4594824

    (a) a depiction of James Bond driving a hovercraft set against a background of James Bond titles with the inscription “007”; or

    (b) a depiction of the snow plane from the film Spectre set against a background of James Bond titles with the inscription “007”.

Thanks.  This hobby just goes deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole, when you need to monitor royal proclamations.

You’ll need to use the EOS Utility software to check the shutter count on Canon cameras. Once installed, follow these five steps:

    1. Turn on your camera and connect it to your computer using a USB cable.
    2. Open the EOS Utility software on your computer.
    3. Click on the “Camera Settings” tab.
    4. In the “Camera Settings” window, click on the “Shutter Count” button.
    5. The shutter count will be displayed in the “Shutter Count” window.

Lovely coins, really pleased for you.
I love the names of the nuggets ‘Welcome Stranger’, ‘Hand of Faith’ etc……..great🌞

It took longer than I care to admit to realise that the nuggets are actually named after their shape, i.e. Australia, an eagle, a hand, etc.  🤦‍♂️

It's auto-ISO'ing up there and I am seeing lots of noise... it may be some other setting, I've not found yet...

Big fan of auto-ISO.  Sensor noise can be fixed in post fairly easily - if it's really bad it will soften the image, but most of the time you wouldn't notice.  But the alternative to high ISO is slow shutter speed, and motion blur can't be fixed in post.

So, you could set the auto-ISO limit to only go so far, but once you've reached that, it's just going to crank down the shutter speed, and you've lost the photo.

You just have to be realistic with what you can do in low light.

Yes I did... and holy sheet it's amazing! :)

Taking a bit of getting used to, definitely not as "user friendly" as the 800.

Yeah, for general photography it will be a huge step up.  Much better low light, so you can crank the ISO up to the 1000s and still not get much noise while taking indoor photos.

Of course all the lenses you need just got more expensive...

Just had a look at the website where this is listed. £74.70. It has sold out, so I guess there is interest…unless that is part of the marketing. Speaking of which, the marketing does not feel accurate. The gold bar is made in Germany. What is the connect with Oxford Mint if the item is made by Liepziger Edelmetallverarbeitung?

Assuming everything is in good working condition, I think this is a great price for this bundle.

The lens is a well-regarded kit lens.  For coin photography, is has a 1:3 magnification, not true macro but could produce photos far better than any mobile phone.  The camera itself is easily capable.

If you wanted to get more serious with coin photos, you could buy some extension tubes (~£50) or invest in a macro lens later.

  8. 2024 Six Decades of 007 - 1990s - 1/4oz gold and 2oz silver proofs

Unfortunately, the second set of James Bond coins that came this week, the 1990s, were not in acceptable condition, and I will return.

    1/4oz Gold

Mixture of very visible contact marks, big flaws in the fields, and oily residue.

    2oz Silver

This is a bit more borderline.  It's basically missing frosting that's the problem, but there's a lot of it.  If this was the only one to return, I might keep it.  Doesn't seem to be anything else wrong with it.

Think the press threw a wobbly you might want to check the weight and any signs of die cracking

I went over the faces with the microscope, as I'm used to returning coins from RM.  It's actually pretty spotless.  Maybe the odd pin hole of frosting here and there.  Certainly nothing major.

It was only when I took it out of the capsule to photograph that I noticed the rim.  I am loathed to keep handling it, as I don't want to break the edge.

    Weighs 7.816g.
