As long as when my house is burning, I can look over to see those b4st4rd's houses burning as well, it won't be so bad.  But if their houses are protected (and I suspect they are), it will be double as painful for the rest of us...
Real trouble is coming.  How long is anyone's guess.  But it's going to be bad because the west is so fractured now compared to 2008.  We are not a mono ethnic block any more.  Humans will fight each other on ethnic lines when the resources dry up.  It's just a reality that has played out again and again and again throughout history..  It's NEVER "different this time".  Check out Beirut if you doubt it.  It's within living history....
Here's a bit of music that might be relevant for the next crash.  AI is about to experience an event horizon.  And when it does, and things crash, we're going to experience a new type of hell....
Dark in here hehehe  Check out the lyrics...  "Humans were divided, probots and the robophobes.."
The next track (Eden) on this album is beautiful.  Worth a listen if you like retro 80's synth stuff.

Who knows what the future will bring. My aim is to be positioned with the necessary tools, knowledge and skills to be able to be flexible and adaptable to whatever situation may get thrown at me. Assuming there isn't a nuclear holocaust which I would have no control over so don’t worry about, the worst case scenario would be a total economic collapse and multi-year long depression.
If today, right now the internet stopped working, the shops never got any deliveries again, the electricity went off and the water supply stopped working I am in a position to be able deal with any or all of these situations and could do so on a permanent basis for many years if necessary. Not just to survive but to thrive. I’m not going to just hide in a cave and exist. If there’s a crash followed by a long depression I want to be able to live a good standard of life with an abundance of everything I need and be in a position to help the people around me and teach them how to do the same for themselves to if necessary. Getting prepared required buying a few new tools and taking some time to acquire some new knowledge and skills but it’s straightforward enough to do if you put your mind to it and are willing to work. Also I’m lucky enough to have access to some land in the countryside which is a big bonus too.
Financially speaking I’m also fairly well positioned to weather a crash without losing what I already have. Then on the other side of a crash after the prices of real assets drop I have some gold (not enough!) to buy them at a far more favourable ratio to what we can at the moment. So hopefully I would also in a good position to be able to actually profit very handsomely from a crash and depression. As for the government reaction. Well lets just say I’m not counting on getting any help from them any time soon. Nah, we’re probably going to be on our own and if anything the government are more likely get in the way and be a hindrance.
Hopefully there won’t be a crash or depression and we can all continue living our cosy easy lives as we are. But if the worst happens, or anything in between, I’m ready for that too.

Outlook =  consumer price inflation and asset price deflation. Stock up on tomato sauce today defer asset purchases for 18 + months. Cash has its place.
Worth mentioning buying 5% plus dividend paying value stocks through a SIPP instantly yields 40% for higher rate tax payers and continues to yield more than a cash ISA.... so
Different strokes for different folks, game changes when the Central Banks "pivot"

Precisely. Some very reputable people have been calling for 3-5k in gold & I agree.
These are also people that have been bearish when it was not looking so good.

I do think people dont have the capacity to zoom out and look at the larger cycle.
2021 was just one big pull back - largely fuelled by retail bullishness in 2020 after buffet got in.
That was overshadowed in better gains from bitcoin. Then came the tax loss selling.

Bitcoins dead, the dollar has stalled, its largely risk off & CBDC's are on the cards.
Not to mention aggressive monetary tightening
Everyone said they would pivot & they have and will not until its really broken.

Thats what they are directed to do and want I think judging by all the other goings
To cure climate change drive people into poverty & dependency on the government.

Thats how I see it in my simple little head.

Saddam was just 3rd world dictator, but if you know your history. The USA gave him power in the 1970s as they funded him to lead the coup. The only reason Hussein got invaded because he decided to sell the oil in Euros and not dollars, hence the regime change..... no other reason
