From people I've spoken with and who have advised/guided me well in the past and what I've read it's back to the usual easiest explanations = market manipulation.
There are currently several countries seeking to buy even more gold in 2024, some of course being the same countries as bought in 2023, plus a couple of others.
Since Government effectively enable the reckless behaviour of the banks (which will potentially almost certainly ultimately cripple a number of fiat currencies and ultimately give us a potential higher year end high maybe close to £1800 [$2200-2400 estimated), the market making banks will manipulate/dump the price at which governments can buy their gold for them.
Whilst the US for example are have consistent commentary about an almost $34 trillion deficit; that pales into insignificance compared to their off books liabilities which when last I looked were estimated at $176 trillion - truly scary numbers...............
I don't see this as sustainable beyond the 3rd quarter, likely much sooner, but in the interim, I'm keeping a little aside this year, as I did last year, and won't start any serous buying until a drop below £1550.

Good afternoon all, firstly thank you for this forum, i've been enjoying my last few days reading through threads and learning from you all. Looking forward to learning more in time.
I'm excited as my first purchase came today, I started with a 1g bar purely for low entry point and I just couldn't wait to get something to start my journey. Plus I like them.
I just had to tell someone and I know that you guys will understand my excitement.
Looking to add each month, likely start with half sovereign's.

    Have a good day!

If gold and silver are anything "manipulated" on the table, cryptos are like underground casinos. You don't even need to buy/sell derivatives or actually shift physical, and all you need is a couple of tweets and a crowd of juvenile nouveaux

Earlier on I was shocked by the level of ignorance of the "crypto bro's", even the leading ones. Practically none of them have even read the white paper.
Now I don't even blink at the TomFoolery - the less they know, the more they are convinced they know everything 🤣

Robert Kiyosaki was chatting to some guy who said...
How long does it take to fill a stadium with drops of water?, if you start at 1 drop the first minute, then 2 drops the second minute, 4 drops the third, 8 the fifth etc.
The answer is 50 minutes, not really surprising. That exponential grain of rice on a chessboard thing.
What I found interesting was how full the stadium would be after 45 minutes, and the answer was 7%. The guy went on to explain that global debt was exactly the same thing.
So I'm imagining this inevitable juggernaut coasting along, and it feels like something that could be controlled, contained, reversed, soft-landing. However you want to put it...until the 45minute mark then the hyperinflation curve hits, and it'll be tsunami-like.
And I wonder how many minutes are we into this scenario?

I was watching SilverDragons and the coin shop owner, Harry, has said gold is flooding in to his shop and he's buying a lot of it but selling comparatively little. His explanation was the psychological $2000/oz level which is maybe similar to the £400/sov price. People that bought gold years ago or even in 2019 are very happy to sell at today's prices but fewer of the long-term stackers are happy to buy at these prices. Like Adrian said though, $2000/oz could well be the new floor and a year from now we'll all think £400/sov is cheap

a festive treat at this time of year, my children love em. Not as much as the odd sovereign they have received as special treats. If only Fort Knox was actually audited 🤣

attached photograph shows a change machine where full or half sovereigns could be entered to receive 20 or 10 shillings. Apparently they were used in large shops; though I don't know how the  Sovereigns would have been verified for fakes.

It looks like the Red sea crisis is going to have a major impact on the world economy.  Oil and freight is drying up through the Suez, as more and more companies rule out using it.  Only Russian tankers are still transiting without being attacked, but even they may not be safe...  If this ended tomorrow, there would still be a large impact felt as the delays and costs arrive down the supply chain.  If we recall, evergreen closed the Suez for only six days, and that had a huge impact.
This crisis is going to create a way bigger drama as global trade is forced into a 14 day 3500 mile detour.  The cost of delays will be enormous, along with the cost of extra fuel to move things the long way.  Positioning jet fuel will also cause additional challenges, and costs to air freight will likely rise too.  A rise in inflation must surely be inbound?  Rising inflation means rising rates to combat it again, with a consequent impact on gold prices.  Hard to say what will happen to gold, but I can see silver falling as concerns grow for the world economy.  Oil supply to those nations which have rejected Russian oil will likely tighten, and I imagine that UK energy prices are going to rise.  This probably means that the UK pound will come under pressure, with a consequent rise in Gold in GBP terms.
Most shipping these days is flagged under flags of convenience, which means of course that it is not afforded protection at sea by major powers.  But if the world economy starts to falter because of the red sea blockade, perhaps military intervention will become a priority for a number of players not least the Egyptians.  Interesting times.

With the recent gold dip, i got a "best value" full sovereign, I just wanted to get one if possible before xmas as i still figure out a plan for what im actually chasing next year.

I would take pics but i dont feel its required, but its a 2022 QEII the design i quite like actually even though im not fussed overall, looks like its new, not a single mark on the thing or wear of any sort, i was expecting something used so i could put my grubby mitts on it and play heads or tails.
The weirdest thing though, I actually feel something that i have one now, It just feels good to own heh.

I think they'd aim for $1200 and then start to load up again but to me that would be it, but I think they're running out of time. The USD is toast. More and more products are being settled internationally in RMB, including oil from the Middle East, so in effect the USD as global reserve currency is done. All those nations that hold USD Treasuries are done for.
I can see the Crimex being irrelevant in 18 months time and we'll be neck deep in WW3 by then as well sadly.

The same Keynesian idiots thinking gold is a dormant asset and has only artificial value also jump up on cryptos and think they're the future. Typical postmodern magical thinking that nothing is valid but anything can become valid just because they so will.
