  10. Hero Bullion is also a good online dealer in the US. But I would also try to fond a LCS near your home, just visit and ask them your questions. Probably they are also an "authorized dealer" and you can compare the prices they ask with the prices online.
  11. Or maybe it will stays a Silver Forum mystery ... 🧐 But when I look at it better, it doesn't look like silver or gold, maybe copper, or maybe just a fake ? I must say, I really want to know the answers ...
  12. I don't want to sound negative. But I would never give a 1 gram bar as a present, certainly not to somebody who is not yet common in the PM's world and also certainly not to somebody who is already active in the PM hobby. So why not ? In the first scenario, a person who is not yet in the PM hobby. A 1gr. bar is so small it looks like you are giving nothing. It also has no appeal and I think that a person will start stacking or collecting because of a 1gr bar is almost zero. And when the person will sell it, it will see what he/ she gets for it and not the massive premium you paid for it because the chance is also almost zero that he/ she will sell it second hand but rather go to the first shop they find and sell it for a bad price. I would rather give a coin, yes a golden coin is much more expensive but if the price is too high, I would give one or more silver coins. They also have value but much more appeal and a bigger chance that the beauty of the coin will get the person interested in PM's. The second scenario. You just pay too much premium on such a bar. Just my opinion.
  13. That is a possibility indeed. But is see ( maybe I am blind, also possible ) no markings at all: not the weight, the PM it's made from, the purity, the mint, ... A lot to put on the edge ? It's a pity the topic starter does not give us some answers, better photo's ...
  14. I think the problem with gold and inflation has changed a little bit during the last decades/ century. When you have a global inflation ( like we have now ), gold is not the best protection against it in general. But when you are talking about inflation ( or better hyper inflation ) in a smaller context like a country or a region that is economical and political not so important, gold is THE best protection, not just against inflation but for becoming richer with every day. That is in my opinion what has changed during the years, we have now less currencies and individual countries. We have many political/ economical blocks and key currencies who are all in one big construction. Only the smaller and less important countries fall out this protecting bubble and pay the price.
  15. No, because you wrote that already. I mentioned that: 1- I don't know of any 3 ounce coins 2- I don't see the 3 oz weight mark on the coin
  16. 100% correct ! If I look at the price of gold from may till now, I see an increase of around 8% in euro, but the main reason of that rise is the decline of the euro against the usd so gold has under achieved big time against inflation like it does most of the time ... So why I still buy gold, because I think it is still one of the safest assets you can have at this moment that will try to keep up with inflation. That is also the reason why I wrote in an other topic that it is stupid to buy gold when it is at a to high price. Buying it at little dips helps you big against fighting inflation.
  17. The US government dit not seized all gold ! They made a law that limited the amount of face value gold you could have a person, the other amount you could sell to the government at the price gold was at that time. So you could still own golden coins ( limited ) and golden jewellery without being a criminal !
  18. I am almost sure that the day that gold becomes irrelevant, you will see that 99,99% of numismatic coins will also loose their numismatic value or most of it. ( and I also don't believe that gold will become irrelevant ) You see the same with stamp collecting, only a few stamps can hold their value, all the rest is dropping or holding a "paper" value till the moment you want to sell them and nobody wants to pay the price ...
  19. Correct opinion. A product is never under valued, it means that not enough people are just interested in it or want to pay a higher price for it. I think before gold "can" have his second youth, products like BTC must disappear or be at least regulated. The amounts of money there are in such products and in shares as Tesla ( with no real underlying reason ) is so much that gold becomes peanuts with no potential of doubling every so many months. When I was younger, you were happy if you had an intrest of 5-6% on your savings bonds. Now people want to double their money in a few months or they are unhappy. For such people gold will never be interesting. ( until the bubble is broken of course ... ) Gold is at least "trying" to hold up with inflation, something you can not say from your savings account ...
  20. Only a guess, but I think you like the Sovereign coins, impressive collection ! 🙂
  21. A special coin indeed, I don't know of much 3 ounce coins ? BTW, where is the 3 ounce and the the type of PM mentioned on the coin ? ( my eyes are getting worse lately ... )
  22. If you will buy 1 new golden coin and hold it 20 years, the change you made a mistake is almost zero. But if you have doubts, only buy one or even none because it's important that you have a good feeling with your buy.
  23. @frugalman: You are quoting your own quotes, I think that says everything ...
  24. Look, I see the figures of big e-waste recyclers because I invest in them. Believe what you want but you are wrong ... Just look it up how high the cost is to retract a kg of silver out of E-waste, if you see that price you can see how wrong you are or the silversqueeze has finally succeeded in the last minutes ...
