Looking at the market prices of silver & gold over the last few months, I've decided to maybe hold fire on more purchases for now as the charts seem to show probable price drops.
Just wondered if anyone else makes these sort of decisions, or am I reading too much into things?

I don't doubt that T.A. can be a useful tool, if used with care, and possibly caution.
Most of the Blackpool Promenade fortune tellers have closed down due to unforeseen circumstances!

Yes. Technical analysts spend hours compiling charts, reading the tea leaves, then project a pattern into the future, and their typical conclusion is something like...
"I expect (the) silver (price) to break higher if it hits £$€xxx, but if it fails to break upwards this time, I think it will crash (through its lower support level)..."
In other words, they think silver (or whatever) will go up, but if it doesn't go up, it will go down.
Of course, they may be wrong, and it might stay in its recent trading range, but that wouldn't be interesting to their readers.
I think I would rather go to a fortune teller on Blackpool Promenade!

For me, that more or less sums up charts and technical analysis "they'll break up or down at some point"

The problem with easily comparing dealer prices is that some include free delivery in their list price, whilst others do not -- but add usually about £6 at least.

Have you thought about sending the item first and only getting paid once the buyer receives it? That way you can build up your trader profile....if you need a vouch message me as I was very very happy with the 10oz coat arms I got from you....cheaper than the silver forum at the time.

Interesting to see how platinum has reacted to the news on Sunday.
    https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/britain-increase-tariffs-russian-platinum-palladium-new-sanctions-2022-05-08/
With the announcement that Britain would be applying a 35% tariff to Platinum and Palladium, it's interesting to examine how their prices have reacted.  Down initially with Silver on Monday, but they have now diverged and are rising.
I'm not really sure how Britain alone charging its own consumers an extra 35% for Russian Platinum and Palladium, will make any difference.  It appears to me that the only effect will be that the UK economy will run short of Platinum and Palladium, or have to put in place very strong commitments from South Africa.  The Chinese will no doubt buy it at a slight discount from Russia.
The scrap car market is an interesting proxy for the price of physical.  One year ago, I could scrap my old banger for £300.  Three months ago that was up at just under £400.  After the war started it reached £585 then fell back to £550.  I'll have to get another quote again, but I imagine that the application of a 35% tariff can't have done much to alleviate the pressure on those metals.  As far as the overall price on the world market, I can't see that changing much to be fair.  If the UK ends up sourcing all its Platinum demand from scrap cars and South Africa, the Chinese would have to be muscled out of some of their supply from there.  If so, they'll just increase their deliveries from Russia.
It seems to me that the same amount of Platinum will get used worldwide (after all the old cars in the UK have been stolen and crushed (yes that's happening!!)).  And the impact on the global price won't be terribly large.  The UK consumer will lose out to higher prices when manufacturers (if we have any left) are forced to source it from Russia.  The Chinese will resist fully any attempt to lower their supply from South Africa to facilitate increasing the UK supply, and we'll end up recycling things that aren't old enough to be recycled.
All in all, I expect little change to the price because of this move, unless it becomes a western wide push, in which case, car manufacturing in the west will take a massive hit.  Interesting times to see tariffs used as offensive weapons.  They're normally applied as defensive strategies, to protect a domestic market.  But in this case they are being applied without heed to the result domestically.  Most foolish in my opinion.  I expect the local price of physical to end up higher than the published paper price.  One to watch...

Exactly.  Once you realise that CO2 is not the cause of any variability in the planet's temperature (lots of physics Nobel laureates discuss and prove this in lectures but no one pays them the slightest bit of attention), a whole new understanding of why the madness is taking place is possible.  It was always about tax and about creating a new and expensive industry.  It's easy to get people to pay more if they think they're saving the world.  In reality though, they're just being milked.

Any nation with half a brain would be dumping dollars for Gold or land (with resources under it that is productive for global trade).
I swear to god there is a Financial Times interview here with Putin, telling them they are building up Gold positions. The reaction is incredible they are under the illusion that its baffling from the Western journalists point of view (an indication of conditioning).
Completely agree with that assessment. People my age (30-35) or my group 'millennials' are shocked that it will cost more in the long run, they have swallowed the propaganda and refuse to believe they arent victims of a strategic ploy.
I still to this day cannot get over how we Westerners arent building relations with Russia after the post-Soviet era. Aye, the Soviet thing is finished and was a complete disgrace - it really serves no purpose for us to continue down this enemy narrative of viewing Russians as some sort of foe - they should be our partners now. All this outrage from Americans that Russia is supplying Europe with energy deals and going up to the Arctic in their jurisdiction for more oil/gas resources is a joke. Who gives a f*ck what the Americans want.

China know the resources are key to it. English speaking countries around them (Australia) have signed off their resources to them. They know the apex of their manufacturing will in turn give them a wedge to silently purchase Western assets at our own cost - you see it in London, New York and other major Western Cities. The CCP and Russians are laughing at this, playing chess against us, building their nations with lowish debt positions, letting financial institutions fall, letting the organic side of things grow as much as possible and strategically moving reserves into Western Cities and land.
They know we are on life support while most Westerners (around 700million of us) are completely schizophrenic.
Having that Gold will give us the ability to maneuver in some way and most importantly preserve wealth.
I firmly believe this Bitcoin and Green revolution are Trojan Horses, but my generation are under the illusion that its righteous and justified. These are nothing more than instruments to keep the anti-China narrative up. Green energy requires specific resources in countries that coincide with the middle east, eastern europe and parts of africa.
A simple look at populations in the East will tell you they have enough to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait until we burn like Rome (which will happen).
So, I think we should all go into decentralised states (anti-EU, anti-Globalist, anti-Western), go back to production and build real wealth with monetary policy. Logic tells you thats how it should go right? The chinese are going to start shipping stuff back to the metropole as a return to the most modern point of empire. We cant compete, its over.

By all means make some profit where you can.
The NSA thought up the idea in 1996 - they have the brain power, the knowledge and the computing to power to create BTC. Satoshi Nakamoto created it? It's some made up name shrouded in mystery. Create the system - put it out into the wild - test it out on the punters - milk it for dark projects - then close the exchanges, outlaw the coins and crash it at will when the Feds decide. Notice how China is pushing it away.

I see that this topic remained open, but no one has added anything from January 1st. I think you've all been waiting for me to conclude. Here I am again, I'm here, my friends!🤗
After losing the competition against @HerefordBullyun I fell into deep depression and anxiety. For days I did not recover, no matter how many antidepressants I took and no matter how many glasses of alcohol I drank. It wasn't until I mixed them that I felt better and I came to my senses, but it took me almost two weeks to learn how much Lorazepam for a glass of vodka and how much Xanax at a red wine bottle.
I will give you updates about Thais: her recovery after brain surgery is great, not needs more interventions. Her mother is very grateful for what you have done already for her daughter, so not more money needs. Thais said that she wants to have the silver bar from Uncle Bully, so I will give her in May when I will go home in holiday. I have already for a gold gift £275 from previous auction. If @Roy still want to buy from me the two coins "Bully collection" , I am more than happy to send them to him. @Roy will decide after will have them how much want to pay for. Please, send me a PM with address details.
About our winner 🏆, who offered his prize with a great generosity, what can I say?
I unilaterally decided to call him "The Man of the Year 2021". I don't know if others are in tune with my opinion, but for me he is indeed The Man. For this nomination I prepared the most beautiful trophy I found. In fact, that was the real reason for my silence, I waited to have it in my hand. See pictures.
It is a continental silver .800 statue, the marks are a little fainted, but passed the acid tests. And is beautiful. And yes, @HerefordBullyun, you deserve this trophy 🏆!🤗 I will contact you in private for address details. This prize should be in your hands until 31.01.22, to be in accord with terms of our original bet.
All the best, my friends, and the year 2022 to bring all of you only prosperity, health and joy!
    Stefan.
