@GoldDiggerDave Thank you for those kind words. Sometimes I think I am mad as I am very much the contrarian by nature. I liquidated most of my assets some twenty years ago and gave the kids their inheritance early. I don't think people realise the stress and strain of holding and developing assets as you get older and frailer - you see the sharks circling.
I agree with you entirely about Peter Postlethwaite, a great actor, who lived HIS life. Although he died of pancreatic cancer he had previously had testicular cancer. Gentleman, if you have enough balls to hold precious metals then have enough guts to hold your balls and check them. It takes no time and is one of the more pleasant of life's chores :-).

As Bigmarc said, decide why you are stacking. There are many different reasons.
I am still buying silver as and when pennies allow (it has been one of those years so far). I am building up two stacks, one each for the grandkids as part of their inheritance. The money i use for this is spare and is out of mind as soon as it is spent.
As I get older, I see that one strategy is to divest as many assets as possible. My ISA is in the name of my younger, fitter, healthier partner as is the house etc. My aim is to be legally assetless should I need to go into a home for whatever reason and for however long. Those homes or any third party care service will destroy any wealth very quickly.
It isn't death that concerns me, it is sub standard life that bothers me. Always plan your finances to make sure that your family retains them.

I popped my moniker on it too. At 342 signatures, i think it will be a little while before it is debated.

That is not how it works.  The manufacturer can claim back the VAT for goods and services they buy.  Only the end consumer pays the VAT.

Judging from the above, together with various links describing similar sort of issues, this is the start of the chickens coming home to roost. People voted to leave the EU, they (presumably) knew what this meant, so there shouldn't be any complaints. There will be many more issues like this for many years to come.

I usually buy VAT free via physicalgold.com and we have been warned for months now that all purchases of silver from abroad will be subject to VAT.
I have no doubt the VAT will be applied to gold "in order to bring taxes in line with silver". Then confiscated and the price revised upwards.

For those of you who have been around long enough, you would have heard me banging on about the ease of buying silver at under or around spot. Whether its searching your local antique or charity shops, or even perusing that evil entity Ebay, The last 36 hours have been no exception,
I have purchased 1,110g (33.01 ozt) of hallmarked sterling silver for a grand total of £568.10, which at current prices is worth  £705.90 so its around 20% under spot.
HOWEVER....... I cashed in my money sitting in my TopCashback account, which was £62.24, and a £20 ebay nectar voucher that hadn't been used yet, so the price actually dropped to £485.86, meaning I got that silver for 31% UNDER spot.
Ok, this is an exceptional day, but whenever I have been in the mood to snap up bargains on Ebay, I've always found something within a day or two.

No one stopped you buying at £1200 but yourself. The lesson to learn here is not to take investment advice from the nutcases on the silver forum and take responsibility.

The Wonger will maintain he is right and we are all out of our depths and have no comprehension.
The market has turned physical and then the smoke and mirrors stop working.
The SLV claims it has silver to the sky - but anyone will a grain of commonsense knows it doesn't have the bars of silver it claims - it will have paper promises that will never be delivered. The GLD is leasing gold, so it is pretending to be a gold ETF.
The bluff is being called with more and more longs standing for delivery - then his graph doesn't work like he thinks it does - the shorts are caught - unable to wriggle out of their huge short positions, unable to smash the price b/c that is handing a dagger to the longs, they don't have the physical, a gold and silver fever is building up and when it does price can really go to the Moon. Mr Wong doesn't comprehend the physical market dynamics - he is out of his depth.
