  1. I gave two of my nephews magnetic fishing kits. They want go after gold and silver 🙂
  2. Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A step too far by far!!!!!!!
  3. why there is so little silver around at this time of year. Some silver is made into silver fulminate. This is a highly volatile explosive, just dropping a feather on it can cause it to explode. It is also what makes the crack in a Christmas cracker. So when you pull that cracker tomorrow, "bang" goes a piece of silver. Have a great Christmas when it comes. Keep safe and enjoy. God bless.
  4. I wish I had some idea what size N means. I would buy it but have no idea on ring sizes. When i bought the engagement ring, I had to steal one of her inherited rings to get the size.
  5. Now I feel bad. I have probably entered into, probably eight or nine transactions, if not more, with @Lindeman on TSF. Every purchase has been spot on. All in good time. All well packaged. All top quality. When I get back on track with my purchases @Lindeman and a few others (including @arphethean (who lives just up the road and is a face to face transaction)) will be my first port of call. It is about trust and I must put on more feedback.
  6. I hadn't noticed this before but, on the US National Debt Clock (https://www.usdebtclock.org/), a collection of frightening statistics, paper versus physical metals have appeared. The paper to physical metals ratios are displayed. Silver: 225:1 Gold: 129:1 There are several other PM stats on the clock. Well worth a read.
  7. Aw c'mon. Give us aclue, give us a laugh. Show the adult version 🙂
  8. I am stacking silver as an insurance policy. People have car insurance, home insurance, life insurance etc. We buy them as a just in case of disaster happening. So it is with silver (and gold for that matter). It is just personal preference as to what PMs and denominations we hold.
  9. Agreed. Multiple accounts, multiple banks. Keep money in each of them. There should not be a "main" account. When you buy PMs, transfer money into that account so that the originator is not closed.
  10. I want to buy a troy kilo :-). I get confused all the time
  11. That is what i expected to see. The OP's photo seems to be museum quality. But, as i said, this is way out of my knowledge zone.
  12. I have a totally zero idea of what such a coin should look like. However, my gut feeling says that it looks too good for its age. I would love to be wrong and if it is authentic, i want one.
  13. When I look at the content of this thread I despair. I despair for the kids future. I despair for the should have beens, could have beens had schools and parents were knowledgeable enough to have prepared us for the financial aspects of life.
  14. I am more than happy to buy other coins as many on this forum knows
  15. Although I would not use a vault, should a person want to claim their physical silver then they would be charged VAT but at what rate? Would it be the original cost, the current value, spot?
  16. And today we hear that India has stopped much of its rice exports. This will cause prices to rise.
  17. Just came away from Perth and Chaos Council after paying a parking fine for a mate. I called the Council and asked if they accepted legal tender and, six hours later, they called back and said that they did. I paid the fine with a tenner and two Winston Churchill £20 coins. They were delighted. No one had seen a £20 coin before.
  18. I have only recently found out some of the stories behind the characters in Dad's Army. Many fought for their King and Country in World War 1. Private Godfrey's story, when you compare with the character played, is mind boggling.
  19. I was on one web site and saw 5kg copper bars and the premiums were horrendous. In terms of '00%s. But I do like copper, the feel and colour of it.
  20. If you replate them then use them. It is civilised dining and everything tastes better with silver
  21. She would often clip me around the ear for doing stuff that she didn't know about but knew that I would be up to mischief of some sort. She didn't know what I did but she knew that I did it :-). She also hammered into me as a child the sentence "don't trust grown ups" and I have never done so. So I don't trust grown ups , and I find it amazing that people do, so I would never, ever, trust a vault to look after my precious metals. I thought that I might be paranoid but reassured now that I have come across this Youtube video
  22. I accept what pro silver pourers say but, i am sorry to say, that the results just leave me cold. I will leave it there, i don't want to criticise further what is clearly a well liked craft.
  23. I would also suggest using it. I like using silver utensils. It does add something to a meal. In your head you can be sitting at the table in the great hall at Downham Abbey.
