So no VAT is added, how does this get caught when coming into the UK and how would I then be made to pay any extra??

Yes, that's how it works most of the time for individuals. They'll either write to you to ask for payment, or if you're lucky you might get an email and be given a chance to pay it online before it actually reaches the UK, thus avoiding any delays.
If you are a business, they might just deliver it and then invoice you afterwards if you have an account with them.

Usually ParcelForce, DHL, or whoever else is responsible for delivering it once it's in the UK will ask you to pay the amount due. They will also add on a handling fee. If you don't pay, you won't receive it.

As it's over £135, I think they would not add VAT and that it (plus any associated handling fees) would be charged when it gets in the UK.

Well, I got a birthday present this year from them, so I am in silver at least!
It was a history of Britannia book.
I mean, it was nice and all but it's not really a big financial benefit for spending £5k+ 😜

This is not probably the best thread to ask such a question on but I'll give you my opinion.  If you're looking for re-saleability, the sovereigns are probably the best.  Only because as gold rises in value they are not going to become such a large value as an oz coin will be.  Others will have different views I'm sure.  Secondary market sovereigns are likely to be the closest to spot that you can buy and you'll be able to sell them easily just the same.  If you're looking at special 1 oz coins then all sorts of other variables come into play.

This is interesting too, pushing gold buyers towards crypto currencies and confirms digital currencies were discussed in the 90's.
Talks about sovereigns being exempt from having to hand in, or as he puts it "confiscated".

I bought an isle ofmann 3 oz silver coin from powercoin in February, it was stated it would be shipped my mid March, which then became April and now its May...taking money without fixed dates or fixed stock is not quality customer service...especially when you can order coins that have pre order status but shipping in two weeks, what is the intend?, to choose which coins to make at what times and push others back for months?...I think when a supplier has to take 4 months to supply a product they should maybe use a different supplier.

Its ok for a collector but imagine if your intent was to flip...it ties up capital for months...maybe even killing off the profit window.

That is not a good sign of quality customer service, keep them separate to avoid those kinds of mistakes and if you must then update the 9nline before selling the coins physically.

In my experience they would of emailed you and offered you an alternative or you wait in order with everyone else.  I once waited nearly 6 months.
I have waited just as long with another dealer who took my order over the internet and at the same time sold the same coin over the counter i waited for the dealer to source the another coin.
Chards have been going a long time You will get your coins.

Exactly, no more then 15% of your portfolio...the dow is over 33,000...that should take care of a drop if you were only holding 20k or so...I have sold off almost two thirds my silver then got into high premium or historical which has grown a bunch this year...hold firm or in and out but jumping when you smell smoke can be someone lighting up a cigar to celebrate the frightened running out.

Sure hindsight is always best. Best thing I learnt over the years - cost averaging. I just set a date and bought Bitcoin every 2 weeks no matter the price. And you can see the Bitcoin chart now  Doing the same with metals and stocks. As long as the bull market keeps going I will always win. Of course if we enter a bear market, if I just keep buying the average comes down with it. And ir doesn't have to be big money either - just throw some in that you will not miss (1% of salary even). Not financial advice, but talking from own experience. Gotta look at it long term.

Its looking like Janet yelled might increase the interest rates so nomreturn metals are being sold to purchase bonds, added to hedge funds having to clear out after the bloodshed on shorts taking some to the woodshed is being felt globally, everyone's after returns, even investment funds are running now in buying shares in baseball cards, basketball, soccer etc showing returns of 300% in 7 months in 9ne case i read...either way, slow gold just isn't giving anything in return for right now which is a great time to get in, when people run out you run in unless you smell smoke.

This is a common misconception about silver, many invest in silver to keep their wealth, not grow it.
Remember, you haven't lost anything until you cash out, so if you can afford to hold it, do so until the time is right, one day silver will be worth more than you paid for it, whether that same money would be worth even more than that if it had been invested in something else is anyone's guess.

IMO, silver is going nowhere anytime soon, people are wanting it to live up but it’s not going to happen, whatever the reason it don’t matter.

it will only rise in price when there is a collapse in the current fiat currency system and then a reevaluation of all debts will take place and everything else until then you can buy silver now or next year and it’s going to be roughly the same price.

Just don't commit all your capital in one go.  Then if markets / prices fall further you have cash on hand to take advantage of a price drop 🙂
I have just purchased an ounce but have capital on hand should the price fall to £1000 tomorrow I can buy more.
Slow and steady, drip freed it into the markets / asset.
