2013 Gold Britannia - Is this coin special?

Came to notice this week on Binlord of the Week

The 2013 was the first Brit. to be minted in 999.9 gold, but oddly that is not shown on the Machin reverse, which is identical to the previous 22ct versions.

However, what does stand out is the 38.61 diameter,  compared with the normal 32.69 dia. on previous and subsequent versions. Consequently it is much thinner, but weighs in at about 31.25, the approximate normal weight for most 1oz 9999 coins, which allows a tiny amount extra to ensure it is at least 31.1035.

Shown on the photo is the original 1987 version and a much later version 2017 with one of several elaborate patterned reverse ‘fields’ and then later the extra security features.

Does the 2013 match the 2020 ‘Oriental’ border version for value?  Chards are asking £1681, and BBP £1728 for the 2013 ( I don’t have one by the way!)

Despite my Avatar I am  not a Britannia expert and would appreciate any other views or facts…..

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

I'm not a big fan of odd sized stuff but interestingly some dealers pay less for them and do sell them cheaper (than other years Brits) too ....

I think it might appeal to a Britannia collector as a specific curio, but to the vast majority of stackers/collectors it is more likely to be perceived as an annoying anomaly.  Personally I wouldn't pay more than the price of a standard current year bullion Britannia for one.
