How is your short doing? I just shorted gold. I fancy a knock down is imminent to 1640 at least. That's my guess anyhow.

If you want to do some maths I am £15 a point long corn current price 319, 1.5 long live cattle current price 8595 and £6 a point short gold.
And my margin on all that is £2273. Today was a good day. All three were going against me this morning but now they're all good.

I was £11 a point short on the IG Index platform. I just closed £5 of it to take some profit. I might be getting better at this. Been doing it for over five years mind.
I called last Thursday's rise as well. Just got to keep that hubris in check cos overconfidence can kill you.

I bought some Fresnillo shares a week or so ago. Any way, I could not help but notice that gold is still holding its own against the dollar.

Me too! I sold a load of stock last week (just before gold expiry date...see below), only to buy back in yesterday...but I don’t think I will be holding for long...you have to be nimble is these volatile times!
Expiry dates for 2020:- All sorts of weird and wonderful activities go on around these dates...I try to avoid being long at these times!

 

Well, I think the last two days have been quite bullish for the metals. I was expecting a downturn.

I shorted it as I work out what is logical and exactly should happen then I do the complete opposite 😄

No not at all, this is a deals thread and by over 2$ per oz I can't find a coin that costs less per ounce so my question was am I missing something or is this a good CURRENT deal?
All I hear is people saying silver is going to pop, what makes you think the opposite?
I am also looking into gold, but since historically silver has a WAY further to go I thought I would buy up that first.
Not trying to answer for the other guy, but from my research onegold.com is the best bet, and thats why I am going with them as they are partnered with APMEX. So when you pull out you can pull from the ENTIRE catalog.

Just added another 110 oz of silver to my Goldmoney account. From my anecdotal experience very few of their vaults have any available metal to buy.
I have never experienced this before now. So even Goldmoney are struggling to get hold of PM's.
I will likely buy some shares in Barrick and maybe Newmont now as I am paying interactive £10 pm for nothing at the moment.

Kitko's price is a spot price, and it is showing much higher than the Bullion Vault price. When the futures price is higher than spot this is called 'contango' and is the normal state of affairs for a commodity, because the buyer is effectively buying a guarantee of a future price, and this usually comes with a cost. The opposite state of affairs is called 'backwardation' and is usually considered bullish for a commodity because it indicates that buyers are desperate to buy for immediate delivery and will pay a premium price, because they believe the price is about to rise.

I'm pretty sure they are showing a futures price by mistake, be it April or June contracts.

Bought a few things from the LCS today.  Starting with a Spanish 1813 Fernando VII 8 Reales minted in Lima, a French 1827 Charles X 5 Franc, and a GB 1696 William III Crown.


A little bit of hammered.  A Felipe IV 1 Tari from the Kingdon of Naples, and a GB Edward IV Light Groat


And a bit of gold.  A 1920 Mexican 2 Peso, and a 1952, 1956, and 1959 Iranian gold Pahlavi's which are the same size and weight as a sovereign.
