Round fifties.

Picked up a few more Intaglio 2 oz High Relief Modern Tributes to round out the collection.  Their quality is always top notch and I have yet to see any Intaglio mint coins spot.
The St Gaudens 1cent (top left), Peace Dollar (top right), and Morgan are new.  Unfortunately I didn't have a capsule yet for the Morgan.

I think I might have upset a number of people today .  I was in Sheffield this morning on an errand and remembered that they had a coin auction on today down on the Chesterfield Rd.  Decided to call in with a view to picking up a couple of sovs if the prices they were going for were below spot of £1185.
I ended up getting a bit carried away.

All the 1966 ones (all the above except the last one) were already held on commission for £226 so no bargains to be had and a lot of people there were visibly upset about this as they were hoping to get them for low 220s.  Nearly every one of them sold for £227 in the room (online bidders were missing out because their click wasn't registering quick enough!) but a couple went for £226 (I got one - it's the last one shown above, a capsuled H&B as new) and a small number went for £229 and £230 online, but that put them over spot and they would have had an additional 5% online salesroom on top of that as well!  Crazy.  Doing a quick calc of my total paid + VAT & commission vs spot price of £1185, my total paid came to £58.40 under spot which I'm pretty happy with  .
Speaking to the auctioneer, there are another 100x 1966 ones coming up in another auction there at the end of February sometime, but he did say those would be likely held on commission as well, although obviously no price is known yet as it will depend on what spot is closer to the day.

So today I picked up something I think is special. 1908 D No Motto Indian Head $10.
I am sorely tempted to grade this.
NGC Estimates - MS63 $7.1k, MS66 $120k MS67 $195k.

In the 2020 stacking goals thread I wrote of my desire to add at least one each $5 and $10 Canadian gold coins minted between 1912 - 1914. These coins were among the first to really appeal to me when I got in to collecting in my late teens yet they've always felt out of reach. Today I took great pleasure in receiving and unwrapping one I had recently bought. I love everything about the design of these coins and will very much cherish this one.

Filled a hole in my ATB collection and a couple of single specimens from series I like.  2013-P Fort McHenry 5 oz silver ATB, and 2019 Perth Emu and Dragon & Dragon.

I bought a few of these. While searching for them I stumbled onto this forum. Haven’t looked back.

Received the 1/10oz Kookaburra gold coin today. Although tiny it's a lovely coin.

I know we got excited back in 2017 for the first silver proof Krugerrand ...but the quality issues became an issue and less hype followed  in 2018 & 2019 with the subsequent releases. So this years first 2 ounce silver proof is the first SA Mint release that has caught my interest. I must say - I love it !! And before you ask ...mine arrived safely still in its capsule in the presentation box! That presentation box is still cheap looking ...but after all you buy these for the coin, not the box or paperwork 😉.
