I'm new to the forum so sorry if this is not allowed but would a 1oz hand poured round be eligible for entry?

Today I got the last piece of the puzzle. I have now completed a nice short set of 1887 Queen Victoria golden jubilee silver set, housed in a nice presentation box. Don't think I will turn into the long set.

Incidentally, when my girlfriend saw a Vreneli the first time she wasn't really sure if it was a woman or a man...

Sorry, I couldn't help myself to share this - not wanting to derail your thread.

I don't know what to say in these transgender days! I always thought the face was female, and still do. However, clean cut features can be deceptive, I suppose, either way. Isn't the hair a bit of a giveaway, however?

I am very taken with the original Britannia figure by Phillip Nathan, the classic, standing one with billowy robes. I think that it is a wonderful and rather lovely creation, and much better than some of the rather 'butch' female figures that appear on coins (exception made for 'Vreneli' on the Swiss 20 francs gold coin). I prefer it to the other modern versions of Britannia, though they may be rarer.  So, today I phoned him up to congratulate him on his achievement. (He has a small website with his other designs on display, all excellent in their different ways as it seems to me.) I think he was pleased, if a little surprised. He was very modest and said it was all a long time ago, which is true enough i.e. 1987 for the first actual coin. I asked if he had used a model for the figure, but he said that it was entirely his own imagining. I would guess from his voice that, like me, he is the wrong side of 70. We did not talk for long, especially as I had managed  to mistime my call for what was probably his lunch break. Talking to him in person adds a dimension to my necessarily very modest collection of the one ounce gold Britannias. Incidentally, I prefer the pre-2021 coins (especially the ones after 2015 with the new royal head) as I feel that the new security feature of a lock/trident fork detracts from the overall aesthetic appeal and may even be something of a gimmick since I have never heard of fake gold Britannias.

I will, I have nothing else to buy... 😄
I have no real idea when I would stop buying gold. I bought at under €1000 once, now I'm buying at over €1500 - I'm telling myself every Euro spent on gold is an Euro saved.

Think of weight, not price, people 👆
I'm not price insensitive, but I'm always happy when I can convert cash to gold.

I am new here. I plan to sell some of the silver I hold in order to start the ball rolling towards a positive feedback and good standing within this community. Gotta start somewhere and selling a few item is where I'll start.

I have been a member for a little while (with well over 100 posts), but I did not realise that this part of the forum existed until now, so I thought I ought to put myself on the map here as well. I must say that I have greatly enjoyed the forum and have been much enlightened (and sometimes suitably entertained) by all that members have contributed. Many thanks to all.

I can not see any dealer stopping buying and selling, doesn't matter where the spot price is. I suppose they are buying even more than usual when the price is high, because are more sellers on the market. It is only about budget and averages.
In the same time, their businesses are apparently healthy, none of them are bankrupted or in financial difficulties, so my conclusion is this system is a correct one and it works well.
So, I will try to follow their scheme, of course in micro-style, buying and selling small quantities, with an eye on my budget and averages.
    All the best!
    Stefan.

Anyone who knows me will know I love my Mexican coins and today I've managed to land some true rarities which I could not be happier about including a
1992 5oz proof precolombina which is absolutely stunning 😍
1996 2oz bu libertad which was the first year of issue for the 2oz libertad
1950 cinco pesos (Southeastern rail Road) which is one of the rarest Mexican silver coins out there
Also a couple of 1985/86 Mexican world cup silver coins among others

That's the way I'm buying most of my trade coins (Kaiserreich, Vreneli, 20 Franc). Have a wad of cash ready, see what they have.
I'm not worried about the coins' authenticity after I have seen how intesively they test my coins when I'm pawning something (it happens).
As long as I'm paying bullion prices for bullion coins I'm happy (they surely weed out anything numismatic).
