  1. To put it in relatable context: by late November 1923, one US Dollar was equal to 4.21 trillion marks.
  2. Not 1990 nor NGC. I own a 4 coin set of the 1991 proof Sovereign (all graded PCGS PR69DCAM). Clickable Link
  3. I like, prefer and own all 5 of Philip Nathan’s Britannia designs with the signature crenellated borders. My two favorite RM coin designs (which I use as my other gif avatar) are: Classic - Benedetto Pistrucci’s St. George slaying a dragon Modern - Philip Nathan’s Standing Britannia
  4. Some folks find the dreadlocks on this Bob Marley effigy ugly but I find it uber cool (a favorite in my meager collection)…
  5. 1987 NY Coin Show Sino-American Friendship Panda medal featuring the NYC skyline with the now missing WTC twin towers. Pictures are from the World Wide Web but I do own both the Au & Pt versions…
  6. Tonight when I chase the dragon The water will change to cherry wine And the silver will turn to gold Time out of mind Steely Dan
  7. Just make sure you have the appropriate firearms and a healthy stock of ammo to plink out those pesky zombies. 😎
  8. 1972-1977 Philippines 5000 Piso gold coin. Biggest Philippines gold coin minted with almost 2 troy ounces of gold. Not my picture but I do own 1 of this…
  9. Die alignment looks good to me. TPG coin mounting in the holder is off. If the date were exactly at 12, coin would be straight.
  10. 1855 GB QV Sovereign (since no 1955 GB QE2 Sovereign was issued on my birth year). 1868 Philippines Queen Isabel 2 4 Peso gold (handed down from my grandmother to my father and on to me). 999 gold hollow Jin Chan figurine (Feng Shui 3-legged Money Toad)…
  11. This is a medallic issue. The obverse is shown below. Obverse: Head of Prince Albert right. ALBERTUS PRINCEPS VICTORIAE REGINAE CONJUX Below: 1845 Reverse: Equestrian figure of St George spearing the dragon left. TREU UND FEST in German script
  12. I hope they honor Wyon by picking his powerful rendition of St George slaying the dragon…
  13. The Pistrucci signature en exergue first appeared on the circulating 1818 George III silver Crown and the 1820 George III gold 5 Pound Pattern. The original dies for the 1820 George III gold 5 Pound Pattern was used in the creation of the 2009 Elizabeth II gold 5 Pound Proof.
  14. Just this one coin which sold in auction for $504,000 last Mar 26, 2021: 1820 George III gold Proof Pattern 5 Pound (NGC PR63+UC) 1 of 25 extant Totally content to own for much less this 2009 Elizabeth II gold Proof 5 Pound (NGC PR70UC), instead
  15. My PM collection/stack (mostly Au, some Pt & Ag and a few Pd) started in my 30s as a hobby that doubled as a savings (in addition to my 401K) with a plan for augmenting my future retirement. Now that I am retired and have not been able to add to it like before, I have changed my original plan to now leave them (or most of them) as a legacy to my two kids and grandkids. I am glad to have squirreled away something (a small amount at a time) not tracked by big brother that I can use or pass on as a legacy, free and clear.
  16. If you can get any or all of the other 4 22K Britannia designs by Philip Nathan, that would be my recommendation. The charioteer, Una and lion, helmeted Athena and seated Britannia by Philip Nathan are scarcer and more collectible than the original/standard standing Britannia design.
  17. For 2021, the US Mint is issuing 999 fine silver Morgan and Peace Dollars to celebrate 100 years since the 1921 (last year) they were both issued. Preorder was started but was pulled temporarily due to shortage of silver from US Mint suppliers... https://www.usmint.gov/news/inside-the-mint/celebrating-the-iconic-morgan-and-peace-silver-dollars
  18. I concur that a gold sixpence does not really make sense since the traditional wedding sixpence is silver. It would be like creating a new sixpence tradition for the wealthier upper class that can afford the gold. JMO
  19. @Britannia47, great snag on the 1994 set acquisition. 1994 (large & small date) is nicely situated in Huang Ruiyong’s priority list.
  20. OMP for gold Pandas is sealed plastic (which is a pain to store properly). here’s the 2015
  21. @Touvex, My wife gave me my first 1 troz gold Panda for my birthday in 1984 (it was a 1983). After our second child was born in 1989, I decided to buy the current year issue and back track the previous issues back to 1982. 1 troz is my preferred size and all of them were obtained raw and left in their OMP. Don’t have any good photos of them. A shorter list that I have are the 1 troz platinum Pandas. Same design as the gold and were only issued as proofs from 1987 - 1990 (4 year run).
  22. Peter Anthony’s book will help the gold Panda collector identify the small date and large date varieties as well as the serif and mirror varieties. Not found in the book is the list compiled by a well known Chinese collector named Huang Ruiyong who came out with the priority list below... Gold Panda 'year priority' list arranged in 2012 by Huang Ruiyong according to his extensive research: 1998 Shenyang Large Date 2000 Shanghai Mirror 1999 Shanghai Small Date 1999 Shenzhen Guobao Serif 1998 Shanghai Small Date 1995 Shenyang Small Date 1995 Shanghai Large Date 1989 Shenyang Large Date 1994 Shenyang Small Date 1994 Shanghai Large Date 1993 Shanghai Large Date 1999 Shenyang Large Date 2002 Shenzhen Guobao 2000 Shenzhen Guobao 1991 Shenyang 1991 Shanghai 1996 Shenyang Large Date 1996 Shanghai Small Date 1997 Shenyang Large Date 1997 Shanghai Small Date 1982 2001D 1987Y 2006 The above estimate is a very simple rough estimate of gold panda set rankings. In all reality as the population of panda enthusiasts grows, and as the amount of research into the gold pandas probes deeper, the above estimates will certainly need to be readjusted. Becoming an expert at hidden gems is congratulatory but I have not become that familiar (just better at it). Only by studying mountains of gold panda coins and research can one hope to acquire true expertise. Huang Ruiyong
  23. Starting with 2016, they are 30 grams (not 1 tr oz - which is 31.103 grams).
