  1. The next release will get hyped up for sure yet it won’t need it in the slightest.
  2. This answers the questions I intended to ask once I could afford the printer ink to print off the NGC submission form! I’ll be visiting the vault early next month at the latest to select what I’d like graded first. I might pop the printer ink in the vault as well.
  3. Just catching up with this thread. BCC are still trying to dispose of their present stock of 41 for the reduced price of £199 each.
  4. An obverse in reverse then! I don’t have a Gillick so I’d like to see it on the 2022 obverse. I don’t think it will be a Gillick, but I’d be happy to be wrong.
  5. Keep that list ready for the Today I Sent Back thread 😁
  6. Somehow I don’t think the Gazette are lovers of the good old plain English campaign 😊
  7. Thank you sir. All is well. I’ll catch up with you very soon.
  8. Cheers for the link buddy. I was a bit stunned when I saw the caveman but thankfully that’s not it. Or hopefully that’s not it!
  9. Is that a fact about the reverse, my friend? I must spend more time on the forum if I’m missing important info like this.
  10. Bad luck Dave. No wonder you started this thread! Maybe concentrate more on your collection of Victoria sovs?

It’s the proof coin. No more RM silver proofs for me since the 2019 Una. My more recent gold purchases were on the secondary market. We seem to be way off topic here, but as you’re the topic author it’s only fair to answer your question 👍 Back on topic, I moved away from modern gold commemoratives (such as this HG Wells issue), preferring 19th century sovereigns instead, like a lot of TSF members (I think).

Sorry folks for the late reply. The silver Una developed a milk spot in the field behind Una’s head. The coin looked fine with the naked eye on delivery but had a noticeable milk spot last time I checked. I haven’t any decent lens to show a decent photo.

I agree. I started out as a collector buying BU coins in the £10 packs 5 years ago before I stepped up to silver proofs. Although I moved up to a few modern gold commemoratives, my interest is in 19th century gold now. If the RM brought out a modern commemorative that I really liked I would steer clear of a silver proof and buy the BU version instead. All my old BU coins are fine but the same can’t be said for some of my silver proofs. My last purchase from the Mint was the silver proof Una in 2019, another coin that’s let me down.

Errors in my opinion. Shocking, as they’ve already practiced on the Invisible Man design when they made the Elton John coins.

Is that another joint release with Michael in Neverland?
  16. My daughter noticed the title on the Sky box TV guide and wondered what it was about. Having been working in the back garden this afternoon, I stirred out of my armchair slumber when I heard her say the word “Gold”. Enjoyed it and the Green Welly stop brought back memories of hillwalking in that area. Apart from the Green Welly it was difficult to recognise the place at all. Then it started lashing down with rain and it all came back to me!
  17. I haven’t subscribed yet but I bought an issue a couple of months ago (twice). I was sending some old RM coin literature out to Westminstrel in Oz and decided to throw in the latest issue at the time, which I’d only bought that day and had a quick flick through. Next day I was back at the Post Office to send out the pack and I bought the mag again to keep for myself.
  18. Thanks for this topic and whetting our appetites for the next great engravers release. I hadn’t come across this website before so enjoyed having a browse through it. I notice on page 9 of his slabbed coins for sale that the description for the 2004 50th anniversary of the 4 minute mile 50p coin is the Roger Black coin. It certainly had nothing to do with him.
  19. Although if it’s anything as long as the wait between the Una and Graces releases the Queen could be even older!
  20. I think that the QC sticker applies to the capsule it’s stuck on. There can’t be a QC department checking the coins. That’s what we have to do.

Thanks for that. It looks like a previous owner of my set (perhaps the dealers) rearranged the coins the same way as yours then. I don’t know which side was originally face up, but it would be a shame if you weren’t greeted by the magnificent Tudor rose design when you opened the box for the first time. Frankly I’d rather take my chances removing a pin from a hand grenade than removing a proof coin from a capsule.

Thank you so much for posting this picture. I too have a 4 coin set which I bought in 2018 and I was slightly perturbed that the coins were displayed with alternate sides. Your coins are displayed identically to my own which removes my concern that somebody had removed at least 2 of them from their capsules at some time to display them as seen above. There may be exceptions, but the modern sets I generally see pictured all display the same side of the coins, which fits in nicely with those of us who confess to having some OCD. My set is lacking the blue ribbon though - unless it’s tucked away behind the inner backing of the box, which I doubt. I’m 1001 away from you, with COA 1742.
  23. He’s a swallow. I bet he regretted swallowing that golf ball though!
  24. Well that answers one of my questions I asked in my catch up PM to you earlier.
