  1. I’ve not purchased anything but, having looked in the past, it seems to be a site that other coin businesses advertise on. Not sure about the .co.uk suffix though. I think it was a .com American site.
  2. All together now….. 🎼And so say most of us !
  3. I agree with a lot of this, Paul, especially your last comment. I’m guessing (perhaps wrongly) that you haven’t paid off a mortgage though and hold the deeds to your property? For peace of mind I decided to splash out on a 10 inch wide safe deposit box to store my deeds rather than filing them somewhere inconspicuous in the house. Plenty of room for the slabs etc now in my larger box and some spare room if you want me to store some of your nice 2oz gold pieces there? 😁
  4. Hi Shawy. I’m none the wiser with the Brilliant Proof description. Is your coin the Deep Proof Like reverse with the BU obverse, or is it the full proof, i.e. both obverse and reverse sides? The back of the slab is the obvious difference between each version. Thanks.
  5. Congratulations on your first number 2 !!!
  6. I came home once and told my wife that I’d spent £100 on socks. She told me I was mad. But the £100 was a deposit on my new car with its registration including the letters SO**KS. Your application for membership of The Dull Men’s Club has now been received.
  7. If the holes in your socks are in different places then just wear 2 pairs per day. There’s no need to divert funds away from gold. Just be resourceful.
  8. This is overkill in my opinion. The 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings £2 coin was obviously issued a mere 5 years ago. Is this the best you can do RM?
  9. Great to see, but that’s an eBay replica. @GoldDiggerDave has the original sat on his mantelpiece.

Yes please, I’ll take that. A great unique Christmas present for my daughter. We’re both fans of Bender. Please PM me with your details.
  11. Let alone the SOTD, the price of standard proof sovs is also on the march, so much so that collectors must be turning to more affordable proof half sovs. Supply versus demand. What’s the chances of the Mint holding or slightly dropping proof sov prices if/when demand drops? Will they mint fewer? Off topic Monarch series wise, but just joining in the recent conversation.

Lovely looking coin thanks to great photos. I don’t see the RM holographic security logo on it. Much prefer Brits without it in all honesty. If you can confirm that my blurry eyes aren’t deceiving me this time of night and there is indeed no hologram on it then I’ll take it please. Please PM me accordingly and I’ll get back to you in the daytime. I expect your bank details won’t have changed since my recent Lion of England purchase?
  14. Correct. Your fault, but my stupidity. I clicked on your link before nipping out of the room and losing the plot.
  15. It’s hard to keep up with the banter at this late hour so I’ll understand your post a lot clearer in the daytime thanks. It’s not boring but very educational imo. Keep up all of your good work @HonestMoneyGoldSilver
  16. What happened? One minute I was on the gold monitoring thread, nipped out for a second and ended up here on this ancient thread. Anyone seen my marbles?
  17. This is primarily a safe deposit company from the ROI which has been branching out around the UK for quite a few years. I was a customer in one location but then switched to a more convenient one when it opened. I know of several TSF members who use them in other locations in the UK. Their prices are uncompetitive when compared to the top bullion dealers. End of story.
  18. I think it’s important to pronounce foreign names correctly so I’ll try to remember that he’s a CHEE and not a KEY. Piedfort (P-A-4) and pie fort spring to mind. Sorry to see the state of the coin you received by the way.
  19. I’d like to buy one of your 1959 sovs please James, providing bank transfer is acceptable. Please PM me at your leisure in the daytime. Thanks.
  20. I have a 1989 proof double sovereign graded by NGC as PF70 Ultra Cameo but that’s worth £1,800 in the current market. They were fetching around £2K on FB before the market dipped ahead of last winter. No particular rush to sell it but available at the correct price.
  21. @AdminSupport Are you able to tidy up this old thread from Jan 2023 please? It seems to have been accidentally hijacked today by a member going off topic on a separate agenda about his own coin. I initially thought Lawrence Chard was back again until I realised the dates of the earlier comments.
  22. Nice very detailed photos Dave. A picture paints a thousand words but your video does all the talking (even though it’s silent). Nice to see the coin broken out of the capsule. Well done.
  23. I haven’t got a George V so I’d like to buy your 1911 full sovereign please, providing you accept Bank Transfer. RM Special delivery to be added to your cost. Please PM me thanks.
  24. Just catching up with this thread and I sadly have to agree with the above comments. Think about it, why should the RM pay staff, temps or anyone for Quality Control when the customers do it for free?

    NGC Grading

I don’t have any Piedfort coins to grade but I would imagine that a nice chunky Piedfort might look undistinguished in a slab. I think I’d appreciate its thickness better in a capsule rather than a slab. It would also irritate me when the NGC label states “Piefort” rather than the original “Piedfort” french translation for heavy foot, or heavy weight when it comes to coins. Nothing to do with pies whatsoever.
