Having done some scouring around for information there's little out there. There are no entries for it in "The Gold Sovereign" or Spink "Coins of England and the UK". I've searched for previous sales at "The Coin Cabinet" and "London Coins" and can't find any record of this error passing through there either. NGC and PCGS don't have any entries that I can find in their databases. The Bentley Collection Auction had one for sale which sold for £920, over 10 years ago:

On the All Gold Coins website it states: "Value wise I would expect the 'DEE' sovereign to be a minimum of £1000 in anything above Fine with £2000 more likely for a nice strong VF, and very rare with few examples known."

You've got a very desirable coin and seemingly very rare.

Hi All, I recently discovered an 1853 variety in my collection, it is the 1853 F over E reads DEE variety, I had it graded by NGC as AU55. can anyone tell me some information about how many are known to exist or a potential value? any replies will be much appreciated, thanks.

And here's me thinking a sovereign a month would do the job.

If your monthly outgoings were $4000, you'd need 2 ozt of gold a month.
    24 ozt a year?

I'm starting to get worried now! 😲

    Borrowed from Yankee Stacking 😇

If your monthly expenses were, say, $4000, you'd need 139 ozt. a month to cover them.
Lose your job for six months, 834 ozt.
If you plan to rely on silver to finance your retirement, you'd need 1667 ozt a year to maintain your current lifestyle.
16,670 ozt (518.5 KG) to last you 10 years, assuming the silver price stays constant.
    Keep stacking boys!
    😎
p.s. @GoldDiggerDave had nothing to do with this post 😇

I get your frustration and vividly remember being out of my depth when I first joined, there seemed to be the long standing member's in one corner and me winging aimlessly in the other🤣 this all changed when I joined in conversations etc, be respectful and be honest! ( really important) if you don't know something, whether it be pricing etc..ask and you will receive rapid help, don't offer silly prices on items if you're not sure..as you will loose the room very fast.Remember there's no such thing as a stupid question!
Honestly it's a great group of very helpful and extremely intelligent people on here ( present company excluded) nobody will let you get short changed whether buying or selling.
TLDR: join in, build up your trust/reputation which will be invaluable in a few months.
    Welcome aboard.

    Don't be down.
I think you are referring to your wanted post and I would like to offer some suggestions.
The forum operates on a reputation basis. If someone with a good reputation offers advice, and they have been here a while, it's probably good advice.
i.e, state what you are willing to pay, it saves on email ping pong 😊
It's probably not a good idea to offer less than spot price for gold, especially on a fractional piece.
    Stick around and enjoy it.

For sale a beautifully stunning silver denarius with the face of Septimius Severus (193-211 AD), RIC IV.1#211. (rf22)
This one is from my personal collection, extremely high grade, which I decided to sell because I've noticed I have the same coin twice in my collection. This specific Sept. Severus coin with the Victory deity and the strike and surface quality is especially uncommon. Many of these examples are mis-struck and do not contain as much detail. This one has a centred-strike with little fading and no loss of detail.

£200 posted SD (over £75 off its value)
