I have been asked.
I say coins. That seems to do it.

dicker reacted to Orpster in Numismatic (?) auctions?
If you have not tried them before have a look at Noonans, they have one starting tomorrow though its light on sovereigns - https://www.noonans.co.uk/auctions/calendar/
There is also a new one starting up, RWB (new venture of Max Hughes) first sale on the 14th, some absolute bangers in this one - https://www.rwbauctions.com/
Then you have The Coinery and Coins of the Realm. Golding Young have some decent sales of coins as do Lockdales
I agree there have been a rash of graded Gillicks, but that's people cashing in as they are currently the 'in thing'. I think that's starting to wane now but we will still be seeing them for a while as everyone and their dog has been sending all their nice Gillicks off for grading in the hopes of cashing in.

dicker reacted to Orpster in Sovereign Errors, Overdates and Varieties
I am aware of a couple of folk, one of whom is an ex-forum member, that give their coins a dip into a sonic jewellery cleaner - when they were active on the forum they were quite renown for selling 'nice clean examples'
While this is still possibly the safest way to clean coins, it is still anathema to me. To each their own but if you see a spotless coin with knocks and signs of circulation but no apparent hairlines - its potentially had a bath.

Exactly the same as when I tried reporting similar, won't be bothering again;
nor buying much there - den of ineptitude and dishonesty.

I have thought about this thread a bit.
Long term a good investment in my view. What would be a better investment is to have both the US and U.K. varieties. I suspect in 20 years they would sell well at auction as a pair, especially given the mintages and that a chunk won’t really be in the U.K.

BTW it would be naive to think the HMRC / NCA *doesn't* keep an eye on this forum.
They may even have asked for member details and the forum admin would be legally prohibited from telling a member.
It pays to be a straight player, especially given that government agencies can see any of your comms, accounts etc.
With CGT free coins it’s a non issue.

They will ALWAYS have a historical significance, the Coronation will only happen once in a monarchs reign and given that and very small mintages for the gold, it is the sort of coin that would only get sold in case of a dire emergency, not one to be routinely flipped out.
i.e. A krugerrand would be sold sold out to replace the boiler, not this one
I would assume that those holding the gold, most wont have any plans to sell on and will be holding for the long term if they are true collectors
I would personally try to get one of each if budget allows over the next year or two. Once you have both together especially if both in PF70 plastic coffins. In a few decades time in a "premier" auction sale, sold at as pair would appeal to those with big pockets

Bud you already have someone here that can already get anything that comes out of the mint!
Many guys on her are already using me…..I don’t scream too loudly as I want to control who I sell coins to if you know what I mean, I have and can move volumes more via eBay and FB but I have zero tolerance with some those sorts of people you open yourself up to, I’d rather deal with fewer more decent folks like us here.
I’m a 100% collector that’s now morphed into a legitimate small dealer.

Thank you very much for sharing this. I think on the face of it I prefer the look of the original proof to the reverse proof. But that matt finish looks truly stunning, did they only do that for the 2oz and 5oz coins and not the 1oz?

I detest the idea of CBDC’s but I’m acutely aware of cash has second hand status as a medium of exchange, nothing about feelings it’s the real world reality. If you got paid in cash at the end of every month, how would you pay 95% of your bills? You would have to take that cash and deposit it back into the bank to for your monthly costs of living.
