We amateur muggles may have different views but Martin Feldstein, a professor of economics at Harvard, was chairman of President Ronald Reagan`s Council of Economic Advisors and president of the National Bureau for Economic Research states - "Gold is a high-risk and highly volatile investment. Unlike common stock, bonds, and real estate, the value of gold does not reflect underlying earnings. Gold is a purely speculative investment. There is no way to know which it will be. Caveat emptor."

I have seen so many rises in value of various investments, followed by crashes and total wipe outs.
Once I bought shares for about £20k, saw them rise twenty-fold and drop to half what I originally paid even though the Company was rock solid.
I have just sold most of my gold because the current price is relatively high.
Maybe that will prove to be a mistake but I didn't sell my shares when I should have, because I was convinced they were going to rise even further.
No-one on the planet can forecast commodity prices and guarantee PMs as a safe investment - this is classed as high risk for a reason.

H & B have confirmed my order for 2019 full sovereigns at £229 shipping free and payment accepted with a credit card.
This is currently below spot price and these are shiny new coins so no wear & tear to worry about.
The downside is you may be on a call list to tempt you into buying collectible and rarer coins but that's not a reason to look the other way.
I always look for the BOGOF or special deals in supermarkets as you get diddly-squat for your hard-earned cash in the bank so why not take full advantage of loss leaders ?

Yes - I placed an order on Saturday for 3 as a new customer and paid using a Visa card.
Unable to log-in though to see if my order has been accepted.
Guess it will have to wait until Monday when people are at work.
Great price as Atkinsons were asking £251.49 and the cheapest full sovereigns from HGM were £241.61 plus cost of shipping circa £6.

Caution - I have ordered Airtites from a USA eBayer with 100k transactions and they were not real Airtites - probably a cheap Chineses clone.
They were cheap but every one was poorly finished and scuffed in the centre.

I also bought the genuine item directly from Airtite and they were significantly better but shipping costs are a major factor to consider.
Also be aware of the dreaded VAT plus handling fees on bigger value orders.
