My large slabs from PCGS. Four silver, one bronze and one silver/bronze. Some are definitely the first ones graded from their type.

I am sure this is for fear of US government sanctions. While there are valid arguments for sanctions in general, it is too easy for powerful players, like the US government to use bully-boy tactics, and act like would-be dictators.
I noticed a later comment mentioned submitting it as Persian, and I always try to differentiate between past and present country names.
When it is a historic artefact, it strikes me that applying sanctions is an attempt to rewrite history.
It stikes me as bad that NGC would refuse to grade Iranian coins, but I wonder if this is NGC company policy, or simply an employee interpreting rules mindlessly. With big companies, particularly American ones, it is often difficult to find out, and frustrating trying to.
Do ebay and Amazon permit listings of Weimar Republic coins, some of which have Nazi symbolism? This is only a (semi) rhetorical question. If they still permit them this week, they may ban them next week, particularly if someone complains. 🙂

A beatiful coin from a magnificent city. If those walls of Constantinople didn't stand for hundreds of years, our world would look very different. You are holding a really great piece of history. Congrats

I fear that, in a year where all talk has been on a bug known as Covid-19, I accidently picked up another one.
    The silver bug; collector's edition.
I'll be honest, I really liked this design for Euryale, but I'm not a fan of the other rounds in the series.

Yesterday I wasted 2 hours making 2 round trips to pickup and drop back off my QBs from storage.  Up until a few weeks ago I thought my QB collection was complete until they decided to release a completer coin.  I picked one up as well as a compass cutter.  I have a box specifically for the QBs and it only allowed for 10 coins so I was going to cut a new hole for the completer.  I get home all ready to start work and then find out there isn't room in the middle.  If I was to put it in I would have to have it off centre and that would look odd.  Decided to cut 2 holes to make it symmetrical and will have 2 completers in there.  And now I've just noticed that I've put the 1/4 Yale and Falcon back into the wrong slots.  I'll have to remember to fix that when I drop off the other completer.

My latest PCGS submission came back. These are the regular size slabs (two are double thickness), I will present the large ones in another post. Some notes:
One came back as "Details", it seems I can't avoid these completely but I have become better... 🙄 The Austrian medal had come back as "non eligible" from NGC and now it got a great SP69, nice surprise! 😎 NGC had also refused to grade my Iranian gold coin. Something that had to do with sanctions, which I couldn't understand, as this was from before the Islamic revolution. And they have graded several such Pahlavi coins. Anyway PCGS had no such issue and got a respectable MS65. 🧐 I am glad that the peculiar octagonal medal was graded, I was not sure about that. It sits a little sideways in the slab but maybe it has to do with the unusual shape. Two went in thick slabs and especially glad about the Spanish medal, again was not sure if they will slab it. Overall pretty happy and it proved that if one company refuses to grade something, you can always try the other one. PCGS seems very knowledgeable with European medals but I had problems with some American ones. I send all the US medals to NGC now and if something fails, I will try PCGS too.
