Finally tracked down one of these to complete my set that didn't break the bank.
A high price for the cardboard compared to just the coin which itself is relatively expensive for bullion silver.
Now battling with customs to have them apply the correct 5% numismatic VAT and not the 20% charged.

This small but mighty £1 coin (19g) is the final piece in might efforts to recreate the silver set but in gold. Excuse the dodgy photo-montage at the end 😁 Others are at NGC.

Okay now I understand the reason behind the volatility -- the European Central Bank has cut interest rates again, sending them into negative territory. This is very bullish for gold and silver. Also, the ECB is starting a bond-buying programme (i.e. printing money out of thin air) to the tune of 20 billion euros PER MONTH... with no end in sight. This will help gold and silver to increase every month gradually for the next few years, very likely... there are some "good times" ahead it seems for precious metals... and, the devaluation of national currencies.

Received some silver over the past few days and whilst at my local bullion dealers picking up my wife's gold ring from resizing I picked up a 3 gram South African coin at a cheap price. I noticed the 1oz griffin in the window and enquired about the price and then walked off. Don't know how or why but I ended up leaving my missus in the supermarket and walked back to buy it.
I won't be buying for a while now that I've got my first ever 1oz gold coin, which has put a project for my garden that I had ideas about on hold.

Pick ups from the LCS this morning.  An Austrian 100 Coronas (.98 oz gold), and a 1988 Netherlands 2 Ducat Proof (.22 oz gold).  Both bought at spot, so with the recent dip in price, it was  some weight added to the stack at a decent price.

Will be interesting to see what the ECB gets up to later this week..Gold is struggling, and needs a boost from somewhere..I guess the big one is on the 18th September, when the Fed have an opportunity to shake the markets up a little..Trump will explode if there is no rate cut!
Currently sat predominantly in cash, and sat on the fence observing...sometimes the hardest thing to do is wait and do nothing!

A day to forget in terms of a fruitless trail for PM’s yesterday.  Huge prices at the auction I visited; a ridiculous encounter with a dealer who agreed a price with me on a George III Sovereign, then reneged. Thank goodness I found these two attractive Silver coins at a tat shop.

Today I unpackaged a few coins for my newest project - a collection of world silver  Bullion coins. All pcgs so far grades 70. The plan is to make a plaque to hang on my wall to display them.
