@Numistacker - yeah I was wondering whether it would be worth getting it graded as I saw an NCG ms64 one today that looked in worse condition. I got it for not that much over spot. TBH I wouldn't have bought it if I hadn't watched your videos, so thanks for that.
Is it the bun of the hair that shows wear first? It looks better to the eye than in the photo but there does seem to be some wear on the top third of the bun.

Picked up a $5 half eagle from 1900. Wouldn't normally go for these but the price was reasonable and it's fairly nice condition. The seller also had a 1908 incuse version for the same price that was beautiful condition - except that someone had deliberately scratched the field, probably for an acid test

@sovereignsteve It's not a panda it's a 10 yuan snow leopard from 1992. I was trying to copy your photo before you changed it and was missing a coin. Seemed to be a good substitute...

i must admit i have looked at four Maple tubes, or a lidle coin case and collect Perth silver.
SP, I have a couple of empty maple tubes I can send you if you want them.

Hey Melon. Yes, all coins in the tray were £14 so got some good bargains there (most of the others were royal commemorative etc).
If you work nearby you could definitely pick up some deals but I think it would be a case of checking often (maybe go for a walk lunchtime a few times a week).
The place to go is called the Heart of Hatton Garden. It's got lots of stalls inside. There are a few stalls at the back that often have silver coins tied to the spot price with no regard to collectability ( they don't know anything about coins and buy and sell just for the metal content). I think that could be a fruitful endeavour for you if you persist at it.
The stall in the very back at the left deal a large volume of silver / gold and keep a box or two of silver coins but you have to ask to see them

Picked up some coins from a pick and mix tray in Hatton garden
1992 10 yuan snow leopard
1993 5 yuan yin/yang
1911 Hong Kong trade dollar
1994 kangaroo
Maple and ase
Tip of the day: if you look at the yin/yang on the floormat of the 5yuan, the yin section is mirrored. If you ever see one where both yin and yang are frosted - pick it up as they go for many hundreds of pounds.

Nice video. I share your philosophy re gold. I like to keep it simple with liquid coins that I'm not particularly attached to.

Today i received....some gold
gold velour
crushed velvet heaven...
very high quality case made by the Royal Mint. Not to everyones taste, I'm sure..
The thing is, the only coin I have that fits it is the RM lunar proof horse, which fits perfectly - non-ridged coins just fall right through
So looks like I'll be filling this up until 2025. Plenty of room underneath for the COAs

Teaser :-p

Yes I believe they were minted in 1974. All minted by the royal mint with permission from the respective governments. I think there were 12 in total that year and some the next year. They are pretty much perfect and look brand new except for the rhino which has slight fingerprints (it's my favourite). They go for a lot more than I paid on eBay.
There were a few stalls there from the embankment fair as it was off this week. It was mostly expensive old stuff - a lot of Roman etc and £1k - £3k sovereigns etc, but there was stuff here and there I picked up a 2008 Brit and a 1983 proof pound coin at a reasonable price too.

It's because the Chinese zodiac begins with rat/mouse so they wanted to start a series at the proper beginning. They were a couple of years late with the first series.

Yeah I just worked that out . It, and the other two I got, fit perfectly into slots I made for 1/2 oz lunar s2 coins. They look great
-
Yeah I like the look of the set and thought about getting more but don't want to be lumbered with the boxes

Yeah. I picked one up on Saturday by accident and been trying to find a rough value but can't see them for sale anywhere. Mintage is 8,888 I think. Lovely coin though.

Is that a silver or gold horse barney?
