I know these are your resolutions, but in this economy, if you are able bodied,  I’d say make money any way you can and sock it away.  Unless the job is physically draining you, milk it for what it’s worth.  I think we’re in for a major economic reset, layoffs, real estate and market crash.  It will be nice to have some extra cash and more PMs on hand when the SHTF.

Beachbum got a reaction from Goldfever20 in In a SHTF situation what plan do you have for getting your stack from your storage space?
I’ve been through Hurricane Sandy in the states, and lost access to one of my properties for a few weeks.  A more likely SHTF scenario for those that live on a coast, or in an area prone to natural disasters, is an evacuation as a result of a disaster.  What will you do with your PMs, considering you may lose access to your property for an extended period of time?

I have found that monster boxes from ASE’s or maples, or a similarly strong and manageable container, is a great option to make your PMs more portable.  Keep a few rolls of duct tape on hand by your stack to quickly wrap around the boxes and toss in your vehicle.  Have a hand truck or collapsible cart on hand as well.  There as so many variables to plan for, so no one solution will work for all.

My stacking goal for the current year was to thin the stack of oddball bullion coins I’ve accumulated over the years and convert the proceeds over to the few bullion items that I stack in bulk.  I’m trying to make future liquidation a lot easier without having to sell a bunch of individual items.  In case my family needs to sell, they can just grab a handful of bullion and bring to the LCS without having to know a lot of detail about each item.  This will also help consolidate storage and simplify inventory management.  This will now be the goal for the coming year.  🙄

I have always wanted my own bodyweight in silver. Problem is currently I have a spot price of £87,000.

Damn, I've run out of likes. I think I might have to up grade the membership. God knows what my spot price is. Not saying that I'm excessively heavy but our bathroom scales broke recently.

I'm a big Engelhard fan, which makes up a lot of my stack.  Here are some pics as examples.  The tubes are full of Prospectors.  Got many old pour 5 and 10 oz bars, as well as oddball sizes, such as 3, 6 and 7 ounce bars.

Here’s a 2005 Series 1 Perth Mint Lunar Rooster Kilo colorized coin Collector’s Edition.  Picked it up from my LCS who keeps me in mind when Perth stuff comes in.  Got it for $3 over spot a few years back.  Pictures don’t do it justice.

    Hello All,
I'm a long time stacker from New Jersey.  Been stacking silver since I was 14, buying an ounce a week back then when I got paid from my part time job.  I remember the hoarding by the Hunt brothers, and the rapid price increase to $50.  People were selling their grandmother's serving sets to buy a new car.  I got interested in silver at a young age when my brother and I received some silver half dollars as change at a Chinese restaurant.  Once I realized the value, I was off and running building my stack, and over 40 years later, I'm still buying PM's on the dips.  I'm a military veteran, and served in the first Gulf War.  Married with grown kids, and an empty nester now.  Also interested in crypto, buying the dips, which seems quite frequent lately.  If I can give some advice to others, it would be to:
diversify your investments to limit your exposure to any one asset don't go all in dollar cost average buy more on the dips stay away from numismatic items unless you really know your stuff be careful who you share your PM info with use a safe, and bolt it to the floor live within your means educate children in money management and investing have more than one source of income and expand your skillset exercise your 2nd amendment rights and stack ammo prepare for the worst and hope for the best  I look forward to perusing the forums and contributing where I can.

Beachbum reacted to Silverlocks in How do I get silver from US to UK?
You will get clobbered for VAT if you try to bring silver into the UK, as VAT is charged on silver (but is not charged on 'investment' grade gold).  I think you would likely be better off selling the bars in the US and just bringing the cash across.  Another possibility might be to trade them to a dealer for gold, which is not subject to VAT, but this may or may not result in a better deal than you would get by just selling the bars and buying gold here.
The VAT charge makes stacking silver inefficient as a savings medium here in the UK, as you won't recover the VAT if you sell it back to a dealer.  It is possible, but you might want to do your homework and decide whether it is worth doing

Does anyone collect Norfed Liberty silver coins?  These were privately minted by Norfed in the US as an alternate currency, until the FBI decided that the US Treasury did not need any competition and shut them down.  I’ve accumulated quite a stack of various sizes and denominations.   May be listing some on eBay soon to thin the stack of oddball pieces.

Thanks!  I’ve been fortunate over the years to have a great LCS that has always had Engelhard bars available.  All of my bars were purchased for .50 over spot.  Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll see that kind of premium again for a long time.
