  1. I came across this at my LCS a few years back and had to have it. I think I paid $25 over spot. Haven’t seen another since, and probably won’t sell it. Great addition to my Engelhard collection.
  2. Buy small ziploc bags on eBay. Label the bag and pop the coin in. Store similar coins together in larger bags. No sense in ruining a capsule. Throw bags in old monster boxes. Label box with a number, and update your inventory spreadsheet with the box number next to each item in the box.
  3. Do we have any stackers here under the age of 18? If so, it would be interesting to know when and how you got involved in PMs, how old you are, what you like to stack, what country you live in, and any other info you feel like sharing. Who knows, maybe we have some stackers here that would be willing to add to your stack. 😉
  4. I know these are your resolutions, but in this economy, if you are able bodied, I’d say make money any way you can and sock it away. Unless the job is physically draining you, milk it for what it’s worth. I think we’re in for a major economic reset, layoffs, real estate and market crash. It will be nice to have some extra cash and more PMs on hand when the SHTF.
  5. Definitely check into a good used safe. There are plenty out there. You can get a huge discount buying used. Nothing goes wrong with a safe. Get a really hefty one if you can put it on a slab, and can move it in from ground level. You’d be surprised at how easy it is to move an extremely heavy safe with a few 1” pipes to roll it on.
  6. Here are some bars in 2.5 and 5 grams. Each one has its own serial number on the card that matches what’s on the bar. Stick with well known brands/mints.
  7. I’ve been through Hurricane Sandy in the states, and lost access to one of my properties for a few weeks. A more likely SHTF scenario for those that live on a coast, or in an area prone to natural disasters, is an evacuation as a result of a disaster. What will you do with your PMs, considering you may lose access to your property for an extended period of time? I have found that monster boxes from ASE’s or maples, or a similarly strong and manageable container, is a great option to make your PMs more portable. Keep a few rolls of duct tape on hand by your stack to quickly wrap around the boxes and toss in your vehicle. Have a hand truck or collapsible cart on hand as well. There as so many variables to plan for, so no one solution will work for all.
  8. My stacking goal for the current year was to thin the stack of oddball bullion coins I’ve accumulated over the years and convert the proceeds over to the few bullion items that I stack in bulk. I’m trying to make future liquidation a lot easier without having to sell a bunch of individual items. In case my family needs to sell, they can just grab a handful of bullion and bring to the LCS without having to know a lot of detail about each item. This will also help consolidate storage and simplify inventory management. This will now be the goal for the coming year. 🙄
  9. Here’s a 2005 Series 1 Perth Mint Lunar Rooster Kilo colorized coin Collector’s Edition. Picked it up from my LCS who keeps me in mind when Perth stuff comes in. Got it for $3 over spot a few years back. Pictures don’t do it justice.
  10. Here’s the Liberty Dollar site that goes into great detail about what it is, the history, and how the feds got involved in shutting them down and putting the founder in jail. http://www.libertydollar.org
  11. Does anyone collect Norfed Liberty silver coins? These were privately minted by Norfed in the US as an alternate currency, until the FBI decided that the US Treasury did not need any competition and shut them down. I’ve accumulated quite a stack of various sizes and denominations. May be listing some on eBay soon to thin the stack of oddball pieces.
  12. Ah yes, I did notice the heavy bias of UK members. 😀 Even though we have the 2nd amendment in the US, politicians are constantly chipping away at it. So I pick up a new gun here and there while I still can, and have an ample supply of ammo that will last quite a long time.
  13. I just took a look at the TSF bars and rounds, and must say the craftsmanship is awesome! Such unique pieces of art! Job well done!
  14. Thanks! I’ve been fortunate over the years to have a great LCS that has always had Engelhard bars available. All of my bars were purchased for .50 over spot. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll see that kind of premium again for a long time.
  15. I’m very particular with my PMs, and my vault is temp and humidity controlled. I inspect everything when I receive it, and that’s when I notice milk spots. My silver eagles never seem to spot. The trend with milk spots tends to be with 1 and 2 oz coins from Perth. The 5, 10, 1/2 kilo and kilo coins tend not to be spotted.
