Wow…what an absolute gem

So the new Star Wars coins seem to be selling really really..... Slowly. Plenty of time to think about them

Its a real shame, so much potential to do some very interesting designs. Whats been released is something you would expect as a freebee children's toy out of a cereal box or fast food happy meal.

Coronation 5 coin set arrived today along with a graded 1/4oz Coronation Proof. Lovely to see St George back pride of place with clean fields. It seems like forever since it was a good old sovereign and with a crowned coronation Charlie on the other side, magic ! Treated myself to a visit to my LCS and scooped up 5x20g bullion bars just to keep me honest
The 5 sov Coronation Proof is an absolute belter.

Had this with Halifax, every single payment  I tried to pay the Royal Mint the bank froze the account.   They could see I was getting paid PAYE paying 40% tax and then with the money paying the Royal Mint and they still froze the account......It's nothing to do with "fraud protection" it's everything to do with control.  
Control over every single transaction, I get the feeling they are happy for us to splurge money on food, travel ie anything thats 100% depreciable, the second you try and buy anything they deem as an asset class then they pull up the drawbridge and make it difficult to impossible to buy.   I doubt anyones account has been frozen paying, just-eat or uber.......strange that?  
Also worth remembering folks, it's not your money in your account, you have no claim to the physical or digital, you are only a creditor for the amount you deposit, and the banks have absolute authority over your credit.  
Also for those who buy and sell a lot form your personal account .......Even if you are well within your CGT yearly limit or even in many cases it doesn't even apply the banks are taking the view you are trading from a personal account and will justify closing it.          
 
 
 

I’m not sure I agree the 4-coin set would somehow be more valuable because of it’s low edition number. It’s the mintages of the coins that matters. The set is just an assembly of coins in a box. There is nothing truly unique about the “set” itself.
The way I see it, it is a more affordable way to get the Double Sov if one can’t afford to go all out on the 5-coin set.

1989 Double Sovereign
Finally snapped one up at a reasonable price.  Certainly one of the most attractive designs ever put on a sovereign, or any coin for that matter.  Amazing that they weren't even particularly popular at the time.

Last week the Mrs surprised me with a Tag Heuer f1 watch. She even went to the trouble to find a rubber strap for it as well to swap it out from the original bracelet strap it was on. Looks great and as some already know, I've been after a Tag for a long while so I'm well happy!!

Hello dear friends of silver. I would never have believed that this inconspicuous little coin would have such a career. The Czech lion as the first issue of 2017, minted by the Pressburg Mint in Bratislava. The series is still minted today with changing motifs. So I'll keep an eye on it myself.
