yeah. you are effectively  just betting on the price.. but unlike spread betting you can buy puts and calls as well..   paying an upfront premium to buy or sell at a given rate at a future date.  options..
its a whole minefield of stuff..

The price is controlled by Bankers (contracts). There is no gold market price (manufactures).
When the paper market (banks/futures) can leverage more contract claims on the existance of metals the price is entirely manipulated.

Dont worry, I had a member on here tell me that my council tax never went up by 4% because bankers said so.

@Rains same here. Bars and old silver coinage are a way of owning silver without the risk. Whilst you could end up with a copper spot on gold I've seen very few

There will always be milk spots on silver and copper spots on gold. If it were the other way round I would be worried. But otherwise I wouldn't worry on spots.

    It is, to both points.
I'm getting used to it, but it's a very slow process!
    😎
Back in the "good old days", we used to handle carry a number of mint bags of coins, approx 11 Kgs each. We often had to weight them accurately. Appropriate digital scales were well over £1000 each, and even analog balances were not cheap.
I also used to carry up to 4 mint sacks at a time, but I would not recommend it.
In the pre'47 silver days, we also used to pack 5 similar sacks in strong cardboard boxes, well-taped up, then roll them down our stairs at Lytham Road, before manhandling them into the car to take to the airport, so about 55Kgs per package. It saved a fortune going to weight training sessions at the gymn.

This demonstrates how friendly and helpful TSF members can be, however...
I was looking for some which we could use to accurately check:
    10Kg silver coins
    10Kg gold coins
Various monster boxes of gold, silver and platinum coins
    100 ounce silver bars
    1000 ounce silver bars...
    Any suggestions?
    😎

If you want to go proper budget and get 0.001g accuracy with a calibration weight included, https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08BHQB6J3
I have these for personal use and they accurately measure another set of different sized calibration weights, so that's good enough for me.

These are some of the most accurate scales that don't break budgets out there.

I would like to see high interest rates of 15%+  for very selfish reasons, I don't have a mortgage or high outgoings and have 25+ years outgoing (with allowances for inflation) in cold hard cash. The reality cost of living will be increased by inflation energy bills, fuel etc and rates will remain low.   It's a very easy strategy to nail people at both ends of the spectrum.
Holding PM's and hoping for a seismic event is very short sighted as there's no point to making money on your pm's when you lose your job, or worse people start dying as bombs are dropped on your head.  I'd recommend anyone to pay off their debt ASAP as this gives you more options and you are less controlled by the system.

I'm afraid we are going to have to get used to this level of interference in our lives.  Look at what happened to those who donated money to the Canadian truckers.  All sorts of bad stuff.
If the people don't start fighting back every single transaction we make will be subject to 'approval' by a non-elected 3rd party.
I think PayPal and other payment platforms are in for a nasty shock in years to come.  They have no right in interfering with perfectly legitimate transactions.
I note they only do it when they want to.

    Hi All
Ive been a free member on the forum for a while, as I found it from Backyard Bullion's YouTube channel after I'd started stacking during the crash of 2020, but I'm now paid-up and hoping to do all my purchases/sales on here from now on.
I'm a firm believer in tangible investments, buying art and sculpture as well as bullion. Having worked in finance for a long time and seeing the future of pensions, I love having something other than numbers on a screen when it comes to storing my money.
If anyone is into EDC (every day carry) as a hobby, give me a shout!
    Thanks and take care
