Hi all I’m new to collecting gold and silver any advance would be greatly appreciated are there any good YouTube channels that are reliable and where are the best places to generally buy from I’m located in the UK Thanks

Welcome aboard matey, I dont do youtube, it would corrupt me 😂

But for buying advice, what I did before I found this place is search various UK dealers for what you are looking for, whether it is stacking or collecting, some dealers are better than others dependoing on your chosen path or even both

This place is great for buying as the prices you get are extremely competitive and on here there is no VAT on silver or platinum

Take your time and always ask if you have questions

as my old Trp Cmdr used to say "the only stupid question is the one not asked"

Another bit of advice is to get at least a silver membership on here as it gives you immediate access to the deals and without membership the deals are probably gone before you even see them.

and last but not least, be ready to be lead astray by the lure 😂

Our very own @BackyardBullion has a very informative you tube channel. Plenty of wise wisdom there.

Welcome aboard to the mad house.

we're all bonkers here. It's like Butlins for stackers on mescaline

Welcome aboard.

Buying is quite straightforward, visit the sales page and if you see something you like at a price your happy with, send the seller a message.

As mentioned above ( membership) will let you see new sales posts instantly. otherwise you have to wait 3 days, and as you can imagine, all the good/cheap stuff will likely have sold.

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

As James said, buying is very easy and its between you and the sell through messages and private

the payments are made by sellers options which could be paypal friends and family (PPF&F), Bank Transfer (BT) or crypto whith the crypto not being a common way to pay

they give you their paypal or bank details and you just pay, simple

there are no fees to pay, some listings include postage others you choose how you wish it to be posted and all postage is at buyers own risk so high value its probably best to do Special Delivery (SD)

It may sound strange just giving comples strangers bank details but its only account details, not long numbers or back 3 from a card

Try small sales to build confidence but if you look at the sales sections there are big amounts being done this way...

someone the other day sold 30 sovereings to one buyer in under half an hour for example and the buyer pays before they get the goods

There are intermediary services too if you need to complete in confidence where the seller sends the coins/bars to the third party member, they confirm they have them, you send your money to them and once both transactions are completed the intermiary sends them on, there is a fee for this so when of if you want to use this service you can discuss the %'s

Think that's it...

If its not in a ngc or pcgs slab , then it's ungraded.

It will say on the coin or bar what the metal composition is, usually should say in the title of sales post also.

If you are asking what guarantees them genuine, then a read of the sellers feedback should ease those fears.

Great savings to be had on here compared to dealers.

Maybe some confusion between genuine and graded?

1 Oz Brittania will be 1 Oz of .999 silver, send that same coin to NGC and they inspect it for imperfections then give it a grade accordingly.

Marked out of 70 then with a two letter prefix.

Eg MS69 is mint state 69 with MS70 a perfect mint state coin.

But importantly it's still just 1 Oz of silver.

The NGC or PCGS are grading the individua coins for Quality, ie, no nicks, blemishes, faults etc, the higher quality the coin is it will come back at a 70 grade and the MS and PF grades are for different coins, complicated if you dont know much about it but these coins will generally be higher value, very low mintages, proofs or very old but good condition coins

The rest are all classed as ungraded which also includes proofs high value and old coins as well as the Brilliant Uncirculated and bullion coins, its just they aitn been sent of for grading to put them in a slab

The content of the metal in the coins will become clearer as you go along

SAME AGAIN, ITS A LEARNING CURVE oops caps

For example a Britannia pre 2013 has 1oz of fine silver but weighs more than a troy ounce as its fineness is only .958 instead of .999 like the more modern brits (head spinning yet?)

I only look for pure .999 or .9999 silver for buying for myself or the odd Sterling Proof if i like it

The gold bullion is generally .999 fine gold (24 carat) whereas the sovereigns are .917 fine gold (22 carat)

Confusing isnt it.... you will soon pick it up if you spend 30 hours a day on here like some of us 😂

Also can anyone recomment some storage wallets or  individual plastic wallets for coins currently on have a few pieces of 1oz silver maples ect

I'd put them in plastic capsules, safer for dinks and better for stacking,  I have about 50, 000 of them cos @James32 kept buying the gold and all that was left was capsules for me...

Give me a shout if you want some and how many.. probably 50p each or so i think plus post they fit Maples and are rimless which means they are a nicer fit with no lips at the edges
