Honestly friend, nobody in the UK is being given favourable treatment by the RM.

Every link seems to take you a different selection, finding stuff is difficult and the e-mail usually arrives after the thing you want is sold out.

I missed out on the 2-coin set as the RM decided today was the day they needed me to submit personal documents before I could buy anything (despite having an account manager) and then didn't get round to reviewing them.

Sad indeed.  I’m finding that often the dealers are the way to go.  However, being in the U.S., I prefer buying from the RM whenever possible because they deduct the VAT from the cost.

  2. Interesting thing the RM did for its UK customers.  I am in the U.S. and don’t get an e-mail when a coin is released.  If I go to the RM website, it asks if I’m shopping from the U.S.  if I click “yes”, it takes me to a different launch page and won’t give me access to the new release.  I’ve learned to work my way around that initial location query page.  I understand the need to give preference to U.K. customers, but I’ve been a customer of the RM for many years.

  3. Here in the U.S., GovMint is marketing the heck out of these as the greatest ever.  Mercanti signs so many labels, even for coins he has nothing to do with.  GovMint is charging $495 (USD) for a 2 oz. silver and $295 for a 1 oz. silver.  Coins are NGC PF70 FDI.  I would get them from the Royal Mint.  Probably not PF70, but MUCH cheaper.  If I bought a 2 oz. silver from the RM, it would cost me about $215 including shipment to the U.S.

Surely they will still have plenty available from the US Mint direct to buy them at retail price in a couple of days time. Save yourself the money and buy RRP rather than spending extra, you may end up with a dud from either selling to you, but rather a dud that cost less than a dud that cost more. Spending $80 plus post is a lot better than $134 plus post unless MCM are providing free post.

10% of the mintage (400,000) is reserved for release date (August 9).  The rest has gone to subscribers, bulk purchasers, etc.  There is a purchase limit of 25, so what's remaining could get snapped up quickly.

That 1oz gold reverse proof looks lovely in the video.  I see a place for it in my stack in the future

Both the gold and silver RP look awesome.  I decided to bite the bullet and get the silver because it just looks too good for me to pass up.  Plus, not knowing the mintage of the RP (it’s part of the total proof mintage), I was afraid it would sell out quickly.

I spoilt my account manager with a bunch of delivered flowers for sourcing me a 2oz three graces gold, after I missed out at launch. Which she got me, then she left :( I've got no luck me :(

Looks like a nice piece Dave

Just to add a bit more to the mystery, the reverse proofs available in the U.S. through GovMint have a different label - Tower Bridge rather than the photo of Charles.

It's interesting to hear more Americans are starting to collect coins from the UK, modern or old. Mintages being lower as well.

This might he a good thing and a bad thing though as I hope the Royal Mint doesn't produce more and more to cater to a growing market and more countries wanting to buy these products, but this is the RM we are talking about and are churning out more and more coins and the quality has been lacking recently at times.

But if mintages stay similar today than they have been and more people do buy more to collect, there is an upside that values could increase for British made RM coins as the market grows, mintages remain the same throughout series like a sovereign, demand could drive prices higher in secondary markets as more people want to buy them.

@DTL1982 is there any particular coin series (queen's beast, 50ps, Great Engravers or sovereign) gold, silver or denominations you like to collect or prefer?

I got both the Morgan and Peace uncirculated dollars via subscription.  I will also be getting the proofs and reverse proof set.  They are simply beautiful coins.    The US Mint's subscription program is saving us a lot of grief here.  The flippers used to make it impossible for us collectors to get the coins we want.  The Mint solved the problem for many of its coins with the subscription program.  It's great!

And, yes, I collect coins from the UK, too!  QC issues aside, there are many absolutely beautiful coins.  The problem I have with the RM is that they produce way too many issues.  There are times when my head spins from all the issues (aside from my wallet being emptied).  I collect whatever appeals to me, particularly the British Monarchs, Sovereigns, Great Engravers, Coronation series, British music, Queen's Beasts, etc. - all in silver.
