Please God no more themed sovereigns.   Let the mint produce as many Thomas the Tank , Pinky and Perky or Coronation Street coins as they wish but leave the sovereign alone. Of it produces any more I'm afraid it'll just become another bi monthly money spinner and destroy the magic of the coin.

I don't think it ultimately matters what you spend or where if it's legitimate. They let us pretend we're 'off grid' but they're still watching us haha

I think with regards to the banks having multiple accounts can be ideal.
For example I use monzo for bank transfers as it is so easy and straight forward on the phone.
I got a NatWest account which used to be crowded with transactions from McDonald's happy meals right through to a sov purchase here on the silver forum. Now it is an account which I no longer use for transactions but instead trying to build up savings and provide a foundation. Being a main high street bank it is much easier to get cash from NatWest then monzo who charge a % fee for cash withdrawal.
Nationwide is account which I have saved in from a young age. I don't spend a penny at all from this account. Again just a savings account.

I also have a revolut account which I keep adding £30-£70 a month this is for the use of contactless transactions, i.e transport, lunch small purchases.
The landscape for banking is changing no doubt, now whilst I do get frustrated with their line of questioning it is imo important to have a highstreet main bank which you can go in branch to conduct business. Which is where the fintech banks have a disadvantage.

Have a mixture of institutions boys and girls when it comes to banking.

My rant do you would be - embrace tech as 1950's banking is expensive to run and maintain. People want and expect free banking and are not going to pay for it so the minority can have 8 different banks in the high street. Everything is is moving to app based world. Monzo is great why not use that. I had an NatWest/RBS account its online app is complex and awful. Monzo is easy and simple to use.
Embrace new tech, im older and have done so. Otherwise you become bitter and left behind. GEN-Z and Milienals are going to be using alot of tech to deal with there day to day life and are not going to provide the analogue systems boomers my gen  are use in there day to day lives for the last 40 years. Im sorry but thats what you sound like...  an old man that not embraced tech and blaming others for the world no longer feeling like it use to. I can just imagine your poor wife getting the same boring rant about the bank everytime you need to interrupt her for the six digit code.
i get a bit bored of reading all the tin hat stuff on here too.

Bog standard full bull sovereigns. Any age and within reason, any condition. As others have said, they're easy to acquire and easy to liquidate. The idea of buying a proof rather than an equivalent value amount of bullion sovereigns makes me want to shake my head violently screaming no no. no no no. Then again I'm more pie and chips than Potato Dauphinoise.

From a verification of the metal point of view, I imagine almost any dealer would verify the gold even if you had a letter from the Queen saying it was genuine. Many flaws with this like if I have a genuine invoice for 10 best value bullion sovs I could still be trying to sell 10 counterfeit sovs that weren't those purchased.
Maybe one day if we end up stuck in digital currency land and you need to prove the price you paid for something when you come to sell, or else get taxed on the whole amount automatically it would be useful to have a record but I still don't think a piece of paper from a random will count for much if you're paying via online banking anyway.
I'd keep a record of what you bought when and the price paid and who or where from but wouldn't worry beyond that

I tell you what I dislike about most bullion dealers, its the headline price and then you click on the listing and see you have to buy so many to get anywhere near that rate.
The price should be the same for one or 100.  If I go the the petrol station, they don't charge me more for ten litres and less for 50 litres.

Exhausted to be fair. Bank's, to be honest I have been expecting some sort of retribution from them for spending my own funds for my own benefit. But not seeing the monthly payment going out will be great.

I love the yellow sovereigns. The 2022 and memorial sovereigns would look even better in yellow compared to the 2pence coin colour IMO. Shame really.

Yes, you can (see below for an example).  They're an oxidation process, chemically different from milking on silver, which is a reaction involving surface contamination on the silver from borax-based flux.  Gold would not normally oxidise in this way, but if there are impurities in the surface you can get localised electrolytic effects that cause the gold to oxidise.

You can remove them mechanically, and there are youtube vids on this but be careful not to scratch the coin and don't do this with proof coins as the surface is very delicate.  The material making the red spots will decompose at 160°C so they can also be removed by heating the coin with a blowtorch.  Backyard Bullion has a video showing this process.
Note that it's also possible for .999 coins to pick up specks of contaminants from the dies and environment at the mint and to develop red spots as well, but this is less common than .900/.917 coins.

Am I right in thinking that you can get "copper spots" on gold? I understand that these are similar to milk spots on silver. Are these common place? Sorry to go off topic but just starting to look at gold.

The amount of silver needed to lift the colour up on a sov (less than 0.5%) would cost about 1.5p per coin.  I'm sure the extra sales and the ability to charge a bit more for a more desirable coin would make that a drop in the ocean.
My working hypothesis is that actual gold sovereigns would cannibalise sales of other, more profitable 1/4oz products like Brits or QBs that they can charge higher premiums on, so the sovereigns are made as un-desirable as they can within the constraints of the sov's legal specification.  As this only stipulates the dimensions, weight and gold content with no reference to the base metals, they can fulfil this requirement with a gold/copper alloy.
