The postie delivered this from the Royal Mint today. How long, I wonder, will it be before the RM issue a 10oz silver version. This design lends itself to the larger format and will be simply stunning.

I have seen them and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them, but from Tuesday morning I will go in holiday.
For those who are not familiarised with the Loth measurement system, this was used in many european countries during the Middle Age, before the millesimal  finesse system replaced it.
"The loth standard was an indicator of the quality of a silver item.
The loth mark of silver shows the content of precious metal in the alloy - the number of loths in one Cologne mark of the alloy. 1 Cologne mark was equal to 233.855 grams, while 1 loth was equal to 14.616 grams. Thus, the loth was equal to 1⁄16th of a stamp, that is, the weight of the loth depended on the weight (mass) of the stamp.
For reference: in Medieval Europe, the mark was originally used as a unit of measurement for the weight of silver and gold.
And only after that it began to be used as a monetary unit. Due to the fact that the weight characteristics of brands differ, hence the inconvenience of this measurement system. " (https://sochicfinds.com/blogs/articles/loth-standard-silver-what-is-a-loth-numbers-and-symbols-of-silver-purity-degree)
A very interesting history of the Cologne marks of an alloy can be found on Wikipedia page about "Imperial minting standards":
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichsmünzfuß.
Silver fineness was indicated in "loth" until 1867 in Austrian empire, until 1888 in German empire, until 1891 in Norway, until 1891 in Finland,
    12 loth silver= 750/1000
    13 loth silver= 813/1000
    14 loth silver= 875/1000
    15 loth silver= 937/1000.

Note*: the marks pictured are as  should be. If someone want to buy these teaspoons, can buy them with 100% confidence. I have many continental spoons with 13 loth marks in my stack, I am familiar with this marking system and all of them passed the acid test.😊

I’m not complaining, but “Starting in 2024…” sounds like this is going to be another range.
I’m just thinking how about they just honour their prior commitment to the British Monarchs range instead? 😟

For sale or exchange, this numismatic rarity, very seldom seen for sale in the UK.
A really very beautiful coin in my view and always sought after by collectors of rare / Latin Monetary Union coins.
For sale at £2400 plus post or would consider exchange for other high grade world gold or LMU coins.
Please PM with any interest or queries.
    Many thanks.

They can certainly change their mind.
This might be an oversimplification… but I think in order to release any coin, there must be a proclamation in the Gazette; but just because a Proclamation exists, doesn’t mean a coin has to be released.
Most recently, the 5oz Petition Crown was scrapped even though it was part of a Proclamation.

RM Pricing/Cover from 2nd April - The Small Print
Although most TSF members will be aware of the forthcoming RM price rises, other than the 6-7% in standard prices there has been precious little news/comment on RMSD and none that I have seen regarding "Signed" compensation. After thoroughly reading the latest price booklet from my local PO...
RMSD prices are rising by an average 70% Compensation for "Signed" has been reduced from £50 to £20 Claims for loss/non-delivery of, for example, 1oz silver coins have previously been honoured by Royal Mail - cheerio to that. This is printed below the "UK Signed" title on page 6 - no bold type, underlining etc. Small print only. Free cover on International Postage remains unchanged at £50.
I'm sure that the huge hike in RMSD is, at least partially, down to the RM's continuing failure to meet its Next Day by 1pm guarantee - and subsequently being obliged to refund postage to anybody who can be arsed to claim.

Reputation. Takes years to build. Seconds to destroy. With the general direction The Royal Mint seem to be heading. Does anyone actually think they are genuinely sorry about anything. Apart from feeling sorry they've been caught out at dodgy practices.

Many thanks BYB for doing the digging.
"This innovative, five-year series will feature 21 monarchs in total, featuring iconic kings and queens from four royal houses: Tudor, Stuart, Hanoverian and Windsor, formerly known as Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Each year will see the launch of several new coins, released sequentially in January, March, June and September*.
*Please note: All the information provided regarding dates and launch order of the monarchs are all subject to change across the five year series."
These are the two key sentences which form a clear statement of intent and makes clear that while the Mint will not be held to specific dates or releasing coins in the order listed, they are committed to producing 21 coins over a five year period. No caveat that they may cancel ('pause') the series at any time without even having the courtesy to inform their customers of their decision. Collectors are given every reason to believe that this "innovative", "revolutionary" and "landmark" series "celebrating some of the most iconic kings and queens in British history" will form the bedrock of all commemorative coin collections produced by the Mint for a long time to come.
The Mint has a clear case to answer for grossly misleading their customers and encouraging them to spend large sums of money without following through on their end of the bargain by producing the coins they said they would.
