I think maybe £10/20 upturn, that will be In reaction to the smack down Friday, Isreal done something, iran reacted but knowing it wouldn’t do any damage. Ball in Isreal court if they do nothing will be ok, if the retaliate skys the limit. America normally in charge when comes to wars but this time Isreal just do what they like. America 100% backing Isreal at moment but they were with Ukraine at the start until it was hitting them in the pocket. Isreal got people talking about Iran now rather than the famine and destruction of Gaza

Haven’t bought or sold one forum for a long time but historically members are tight so like a good deal. Even with all the talk about cost averaging and keep on stacking I’m not sure how many will but their money where their mouth is at the moment. If you have been stacking for a few years you will have made a nice chunk on them so if sold the qb at spot you will still be up. Haven’t kept an eye on the beasts but some of them were going for £100’s over spot in the past but think you’d struggle to get that not but like I said I haven’t been in the market for a while

Hi all I’m new to this site and looking to stack and buy also looking for a 1986 sovereign
After being here for 10 years some advice, don’t get carried away too quickly the deal will come up again and again if you wait long enough. Gold is at an all time high so easy to get carried along on the band wagon. This has pulled many people in many times. I’d wait a month to buy first coin after researching for that time. Because once you start buying it’s hard to stop

Who remembers the member who was here. Sold gold to buy Bitcoin, sold bitcoin when went to $20k, bought a fair few kg of gold again. Gold jumped. Sold gold bought house got questioned about tax then disappeared. That was someone that traded his way up.
think he was buying initially for £750/Oz. Would be interesting what is worth more now, property, gold or Bitcoin. Think he was high up in post office so might have other things to think about now -
Do you have the option of not excepting it then will get sent back to the royal mint and you’ll get money back

I’m right out it for price as was hoping for £7k raw, looks like will be keeping for a while

Haven’t read all the thread but a few things,
If Atkinson’s can’t tell if it’s real the seller wouldn’t know it might not be.
If Atkinsons are offering £200 for it and it’s 97% gold they are trying to rip you off
If atkinsons can’t tell if it’s real they don’t really deserve business as they could buy and sell coins like this.

Few years ago HGM sold 2015 sovs for £200 when spot for them was £217. I ended up with 5 and they honoured them. Few weeks later they had 1oz coins come up under spot again but they cancelled the order. Back then they also did a Black Friday deal where all stock was 1% over spot so stocked up with 1/10’s. Since HGM changed their business selling model I just don’t bother looking at them any more.

20% on topcashback. So can get gold under spot. Nothing in terms saying can’t use on coins or bullion

Anyone taken advantage of 20% top cash back yet?

Anyone selling sovereigns here on eBay? In the past some good TopCashback/nectar offers so if they do again this year be nice to have something lined up

The perfect examples are going of £1500/£1600. What would the flawed ones go for? I’m just fed up with the royal mint might just sell all my sotd’s and get bullion

Not good enough QC28, not good at all...
Lots of frosting missing from the horse's legs and dragon's wing.
Not sure what is behind George's head, but it's really stuck on there!
And for added authenticity, look what's coming out of the horse's rear!
Again, lots of damaged/missing frosting on the "GRA - REX" lettering and on the cheek/nose.
All can be seen with the naked eye.
Has any one ever thought about the QC stickers are nothing to do with the coin, they maybe the QC on the box. My coin had issues from QC3 but the box in in perfect condition 😂😂😂

Money taken again for the SOTD, normally gets taken just before they send out so hopefully will be sent sooner than expected

The sovereign is turning into the Brit, new design every year. Historical sovereigns are special because they are one offs, the royal mint are churning out different designs and watering it down so much it will kill off collecting of the normal person

The 2018 Sapphire Coronation (Marsh and others - I assume they use those figures - say 323, which is a very definite number, I'd love to know where that figure comes from @GoldDiggerDave!) was a strange case. It 'sold out' fairly quickly at the Mint, but not by the crazy standards we've seen since 2019. It wasn't that hard to get them from certain dealers that are not so commonly mentioned on here. The problem was the caps, all came off in transit, in some cases causing damage. Because there was no problem getting replacements from the aforementioned sources I returned a handful before I got ones I was 100% happy with, but in hindsight I was being super picky because of the capsule problem, and wish I'd kept one or two more, as I now believe this one is a 'name your price' coin (or soon will be, within reason of course - personally I'm holding long-term).
No idea what happened to all the returns, or why the stated mintage is so low. Maybe the company I dealt with sold them at discount to their employees (they were pretty clueless) and the actual mintage is higher than Marsh thinks (?).
I have 2 of these but when I took out to list they had a lot of frosting missing and didn’t look fit enough to list so didn’t. If I ended up with 2 like it I expect a lot of others were the same. Could be only 150 or so in perfect condition

I may be proved wrong but I don’t think the 2oz Matt will fly, it’s an ok design commemorating a king of that won’t be the most popular in history. The mint are churning more and more of this kind of stuff out. They are watering down the sotd’s every year. Can see with the great engravers series the sales are limping to a sellout which will pull back the price of the previous coins.

Buying from ats bullion
in Gold

I’d go against the grain and say buy from dealers, from your posts sounds like you are nervous about buying and knowing if it is fake or real. Don’t acid test as if it’s a premium coin will erode the value. Numerous fakes have been sold on here in the past 10 years unbeknown to the seller and buyer. Mostly American and Saudi coins. Not to say they aren’t gold but just very good copies. I wouldn’t bother with silver as hard to shift and cost of sending too high. Bullion gold from chards/Atkinsons/Hatton garden metals will be best for you until you get more experience
