I paid ~ยฃ155 but I did the paperwork myself, dropped off and collected from the London office. I'd highly advise using someone like Dave if you don't know what you're doing though.ย

Completely agree... And the low mintage of these makes them more attractive than everything apart from the 5 and 4 coin sets imo

Torn and can't decide about the upcoming coronation set for the reasons mentioned.ย
If I was tempted, I'd be aiming at either the ยฃ5 piece because of the low mintage, or the 4 coin set because it's limited to certain members.ย
I think the sets will appreciate over time, but do I think they will stand the test of time? Not particularly. History tells us one story, but the world is a different place and everything is so accessible with the Web at your fingertips. The premiums for older coins are not just because of their mark in history - in my opinion, the circumstances also make them more attractive and bump the premium. There was no Internet and likely no returns process, so you got what you got and the collector pool was miniscule in comparison to today's market. When you take those two things alone into consideration, you can appreciate the premiums applied to decently graded coins from those eras.ย
Like I said, I think they will appreciate, but the higher mintages will also be easy to acquire on numerous market places and Auction sites. For me, the key is going to be in the mintage numbers irrespective of what people think about coins now eg, the 5 piece BU doesn't get hyped to the same degree as the sets and proofs, but they are impressive in the hand and at 650 minted, they might be worth the ยฃ1k premium.ย

Riches in niches to be had.
You make a valid pointย  KC on the head might be a proverbial " turd in the punchbowl " for these.ย
These are the best of the best chance to do potentially well in his coronation year, first year proof set. SOTD coronation etc
Wind forward six months KC with the next series in harry potter, Emma Watson Hermione 2oz gold for ยฃ5.5k ??? Or the next Mr men series
    Errrr I doubt itย
I'm expecting little love of KC personally. I'd expect focus will move into current trends
Historical top grade sovereigns are out the park
Big money coins in highest grade are flying
Like everything, listen learn read and adjust
But unloved today's,may be future classicsย

Only remembered about the release this morning when I got a reminder on my phone. Joined the que using my mobile and was waiting at around 8500 in line when it opened. I landed on the site a few mins later and bagged a SOTD which I'll be chuffed to bits with if it gets here.ย
I personally find SOTD the most collectable coins as they are literally a piece of history, never to be repeated or restruck. Grabbing one (if you can) is a no brainer.ย

Why have a Royal Mint account manger when you have you very own account manger right here?..........I just won't break the embargo ย as soon as I saw the SOTD and oz coins I did place a large order. ย Numbers not confirmed however I will highly likely have some numbers, plus I will continue to order coins via my normal retail avenues that I have developed over the years. ย  ย  ย
Accounts are by invitation only at the moment (not wanting to sound up myself) ย as I want to control numbers but also reward people who use my NGC and coin conservation services first where practically possible. ย

Absolutely chuffed to bits with my first ever grading submission. I decided to take the plunge myself and filled in the forms, took the coins to the NGC office and had the very nervy experience of decanting said coins into the grading flips. It wasn't the easiest thing to do, but I got some advice from someone more experienced and I'm glad I've done it. Top grades all round and Defo one to put away as a long term investment ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐ŸŽŠ

I've just bought the 5oz silver (eta August!) as I think this is a fine looking coin set with a unique feature that will become attractive to me enthusiasts in years to come. I personally can't imagine why anyone might want to grade given that the unique element will be hidden and for that reason I think most won't bother.ย
