I guess that unless you live close to a main road out of the city you will be safer. I intend to have this in mind when looking for a house.

That is wrong. My partner who is an omnivore farts far more than me and smells. Our lad is pure carnivore and he puts old Macdonald's cows to shame.

The problem with living off your own efforts is that neighbours will steal and you will have to defend you and yours.

I remember in the early '70s when the price of meat soared during the Iranian oil crisis, sheep were stolen from farms. I was sharing a house and , one day, a whole fleece appeared on the washing line. Gosh, that BBQ was good.

There's plenty of meat out there in the wild. Rabbits, pheasants, pigeons etc. The key to success is to go low tech and old school.
They never expect that.

All you can do is to look after you and yours as best you can. That will include defending your good selves. If you have food and others don't then God help you (and me).

It is very true and it will happen throughout the world. If you read the road map document on CBDCs produced by the EU, it specifically refers to this. Also describes the mechanisms by which they control what you spend your money on. Also look at the Oxford and Canterbury 15 minute neighbourhoods. Control over what you do and where you go.

Excellent company, limited range of stock but perfect for stackers, especially gold. Prices are excellent and service is 1st class.

Yeah, there is one. It is made from Peppa Pig iron.

My gran always told me never to trust grown ups and, so far, she was right. I suspect that you sent ten good coins and what the buyer is doing is saying that his existing stack of coins has milk spots and wants to return the spotted coins to you while keeping your pristine coins as replacements.

No.
The Royal Mint made the coin in the normal way.
Later, some individual engraved it, grinding or filing the surface flat beforehand.

The coin comes up on Google. The British Museum has an example. It was minted 1837-1887. I don't know if that helps.

I understand that the Lewes pound is still going after nearly fifteen years as with other local currencies. Also notes such as goldbacks are usable in some parts of the USA and other countries.

That something is prohibited doesn’t necessarily mean that people stop doing it. A prohibition against holding and using silver and gold in barter trade would be very hard to enforce. Exchanging silver or gold coins for goods and services can be done without any third party knowing about it, and what they cannot know they cannot prevent, control, or tax. The authorities hate barter because they cannot track it or collect taxes, but barter has always existed and will always exist. All countries have underground economies, and such markets will only grow the more the restrictive rules the authorities will impose.

If you invest via ETFs or physical using a vault then you would be scuppered. Only physical metals are safe(r).

100% return, get refund, buy elsewhere. Complaining is the way to improve matters. Unless they know they are doing it wrong, they think they are doing it right.
