A day off today, so a nice little drive to Royal Wootton Bassett, to see my new friends at @BritanniaCoinCompany, the plan being to buy another sovereign.
However I timed it just right as they were reducing a load of silver flatware items, basically because they had too much stock, and it was being sold at spot + 10%. Which considering only last week I was paying more than that on eBay and thinking I had a bargain, I just had to have a rummage around and see what I could find.
First off, they reduced the price of a lovely silver double sovereign holder. (Obviously this wasn't 10% above spot, but I did get it for a major bargain). Superb condition, springs and lock work perfectly. When I got home and researched the hallmarks, it appears that it was made by HV Pithey & Co, and whilst the case was hallmarked in Chester in 1913, the date letter on the coin holding centre part had a different style letter n, indicating this part was hallmarked in London in 1908. Now the company was a London company that hallmarked in both Chester and London, and it seems when they built the case they put parts from different assays together.
The other silver piece I got was a heavy silver key commemorating the 21st birthday of Prince Charles in 1969. It weighs over 3ozt and I got it for 10% over spot, made by Turner and Simpson Ltd in Birmingham in 1969. It should shine up very nice with a bit of Goddard's.
Oh and I got a nice 1900 Queen Vic sov, which when I got home I noticed it was a Melbourne one. Happy days.
So if anyone is in the area, they've got a silver sale on, grab the bargains while you can.

I thought uncertainty in the election would be a problem for stocks because If they're busy disputing the election there's not likely to be any stimulus
I thought gold would rise it didn't
vix is down 18% but If there's no fear why are bonds up 3%
I thought the dollar might struggle but it rebounded decently
No idea what to make of all this 😵 will have to do some reading tonight on what exactly is happening right now

And just like that - its back to square 1.

Im hoping it powers through today after the WTI opens (why does it open a 5 mins after LSE (Wisom tree crude))?? Should be a good day for Shell.
Im not basing that on anything other than idle speculation as I dont have time to investigate LOL.

I don't know what's going on but its shot up and should hopefully surpass my buy in price.
I have put a sell order at £800. About half my investment in Shell.
I can see it easily plummet back down again to all time lows if the USA go into lockdown again.
If it does not then fine, i want capital on the back burner for any serious crashes anyway.
I shall do the same for BP too, but that wont move much I dont think?

Of all day's I am working today, first day at work since march - mental.
Should be back for the election, what time are the results out of interest??

I just closed my EUR/USD positions
I'm looking what happened in 2016 and the dollar spiked down 2% during election night, if there's any uncertainty or rioting it could have SL me out
    They were going quite well

Will see if there's any opportunity to open them again on a spike down
Also gold spiked 5% previous election night I will try and play that too with a well time open/close if something similar happens
Will make it a fun night

Cheers, I'm learning every day. 😁👍
I'm liking a bear market at the moment, because I'll be investing lots over the next few years. I like cheap. As long as we are in a bull market in a decades time. 😁

Doing a bit more research on the key, It appears they were commissioned by the Mayfair coin company in a limited edition of 1000. I've noticed on the edge of my key there is a number "171". Boxed examples with certificates have been going for twice the price I paid, so I've not done too bad.

On the way back from a 350 mile unplanned round trip to Milton Keynes, (don't ask 🙄), I popped into Royal Wootton Bassett, and visited @BritanniaCoinCompany in their shop. Came away with 2 nice sovs. 1929 SA, and a 1900.
Nice friendly staff as usual, never got a chance to have a look around the shop though, as I still had a couple of hours driving to do.

Oi, bugger off putting the prices up on my Austrian Schilling coins. I'm the only one allowed to stack them
Seriously I love the Austrian 50 schilling and 25 schilling coins, and they are the only coins that I'm keeping in my physical stack
