Basically when the federal reserve "money print" instead of giving actual dollars all they do is credit an account held with themselves that can't be spent aka bank reserves
It's like someone saying there's no shortage of gold because there's asteroids with tons of the stuff, yes there are but as long as it's totally segregated from real world supplies then makes no difference
Being stuck at sea desperately thirsty, yes you're surrounded by water but it makes no difference
Bank reserves make no difference to the money supply and aren't really money

I think this is where a drift down begins over the next couple of months. I cant see au being allowed to rise into an election imho. I could easily envisage a $200 drift lower to @ $1750 from here before the next assault upwards.

Usually, it is the last Friday of the month, especially an even-numbered month, when you get big traders driving the price around to get their contracts and options into the money. This month, futures expiry was today, 27th August. Usually the price is driven down to a minimum at 4 p.m. London time (11 a.m. NY time) to coincide with the London fix. Interestingly, today there seemed to be an attempt to drive the price up, which was interrupted and followed by a sharp drive down. Commentators are saying that the moves are down to responses to Jay  Powell's speech, but to be honest, his speech was a nothing burger - there was no new announcement, just the promise that the Fed will try to cause price inflation, which they've said before. I think we are seeing the same old manipulation of the price. Disappointingly, the price did not recover after 4 p.m. London time, which would have been a bullish signal. Tomorrow, Friday 28th, is options expiry day, so there may be some more shennigans tomorrow.

Dollar looks like it's going to come up and test some resistances in the next week
If it fails at 94 then we shouldn't see too much of a fall off for pms
If it gets past 94 and up to the ones at  95 and 96 which would probably play out over weeks instead then yes everyone saying $1700 will probably be right
My guess is 94 holding as resistance, dollar starting a new leg down, PMs starting a new leg up

It's plausible there will be some form of banking crisis allowing a temporary drawback.

Yes I was intrigued when I heard that, though on further inspection the amount bought in relation to the capital at their disposal is very small. So small, it's quite possible it was made by one of his two advisers rather than him.

I hope this link works, talks about the "1966 gold confiscation"  I remember hearing Mr Chard talk about it on one of BYB  videos.

You get the feeling that the  professional naysayers are the very ones buying up the gold they are telling everyone else to avoid.

This has already been said but I will say it again - If the conditions arrive in this reality that government are coming to your address for your £2500 of gold that will be the least of your problems.... because you will have also lost your boat in an unfortunate accident. Such a sad story.
Honestly there isn't an issue here. Buy the gold with ID, pay with debit card whatever, get it delivered - once your currency is parted for the gold, the gold is 'gone' from the system. No one knows what you did with it, there are no digital records of where you hid/spent/melted your gold. You could have used it to pay for goods and services, settled gambling debts, buried it and forgotten where you put it, etc. This is a non issue. A total non issue. Just buy your gold like everyone else. And if/when the time comes that they confiscate it.... annnnd its gone!

Revolut can be fine with small amounts, I started to use them with bigger transfers moving in a month £60k though them... then they locked my account twice within the money and almost cost me a deal. If I had been in an auction if would be been seriously a problem, hence I do not deal through them now. Mine is with starling, I can then at least speak to a human being. Revolute has no phone service.

I would stick this in Sovereign Topics for a more experienced and nuanced answer, but personally I would be buying up the best condition young head QEII coins that I could if I were able, especially the first year '57's. They will always be bullion (unless you're shopping for BU or proof of course)  but bullion young head Victorias of the right type (Aussie shields etc) always do well over spot and 'liz is our longest reigning monarch in (recorded) history. Plus they really are an attractive Sovereign, it's an ace portrait.
As for the rest of the QEII's, there are so many, and many of them will be more desirable than the ones I've got a strong 'opinion' for...most will only be available for direct purchase though, an 'our choice' bullion Sovereign is unlikely to yield a show winner.
As you were Gold deals, as you were.
