Hi all,

I've been a collector of gold and silver coins for the last 10+ years.  I've stumbled across the forum while searching for info on a new release from The Royal Mint exclusive to platinum and platinum+ account holders only, that is being offered on Tues 29th Aug.

As a platinum+ account holder my account manager called me to say I will be able to buy the release on Tuesday as my set/s have been secured, but I know nothing of them other than max mintage of 75 in gold and silver and has nothing to do with the British Monarchs collection which is also being released on Tuesday.

Does anybody have any additional info?

Thanks in advance.

If there’s anyone here who comes to mind, I believe @GoldDiggerDave might know.

Edit: Also, welcome to TSF @Oldham25 😎 👋🏽

Can you “celebrate” a defeat? It could only be silver and not the gold.

Mate, I live in Australia and the state government is actually putting up a bronze statue to the Australian team…………… that came 4th. Nothing surprises me anymore

Shocking. I wonder just how many Aussie cricketers and swimming gold medalists have missed out on that over the years?

Yes, welcome to the forum. Was it a case of not hearing what the release is, or your account manager perhaps forgetting to tell you, do you think?

@Paul might know, because he usually gets those calls too.

No they aren't allowed to talk specifics until release day. Just that only 75 mintage sets and in gold and silver. The sets won't be going on the site for general sale, only offered to platinum and platinum+ account holders.

Well like most coins the mint produce it will be a total flop & you will have paid maybe £2500 an oz for the pleasure.

The last time I had a call like this was for the plain edge sets which did amazingly well. I purchased for around £12k and sold on a few weeks later for £19.5k, so hopefully something similar

A premium product only for premium members, who don't know exactly for what they will pay...

Look like it is a trap...

I've not had any whisper of anything new

The last Comms I had from my RM account manager was trying to peddle off the last QEII items they've got left and option to get at a very uncompetitive discount.

Not sure what may be due to launch?

Maybe a plain edge piedfort crowded portrait coronation set in limited numbers?? Highly unoriginal but understandingly predictable after the QEII plat success jubilee.

Even x70 lots of £10k+ is a nice litter earner whichever way you look at it

I’d go for a reverse proof £5 sov!

Hype was there at the time. Nothing has really done well from there in a long time. I picked up a Plain edge for 6k not so long ago & sent it out to Japan for a quick £500 profit. I have had a couple 5 sets since then 2022 & 2023. Lucky if you got your money back on those.

From what I am seeing crazy inflated prices are gone for now on RM items. The modern coin market is really poor right now.
