Do I or don't i buy buy above mentioned platinum proof.... What you you guys think?

I'm concerned by the subject matter. I can't see there being much of a resale market -hence why RM are selling at 50% off. Its still a fair bit above spot.

Well done on your above sweet bargain @CadmiumGreen :D

How comes the coin is cheaper? Guess it is 'exempt from tax' for being purchased from outside of Europe!? Saw the same thing earlier from someone else, I think from the UAE.

Thank you...exactly, the lower price was given the fact that there is no VAT, much like @Fathallazf would be paying as well.

They must had 649 left in stock 😂

Hehe, you may be right. But for $264 plus shipping I'll take a chance on a 650 mintage platinum coin, despite how unattractive the design is.

Contemplating getting another one...should leave 647 remaining.😁

Opted for a 1/2 oz US American Platinum Eagle, Random Year from Provident Metals...couple USD more than two of the 1/4 oz Platinum Proof. 😊

Well Charles will soon take over from the Queen as the next monarch, and I guess for his first sovereign issue there is already an appropriate portrait ready...so these coins could be the first to use that effigy, if they are going to use it. Can't see why not... doesn't look bad.

For his official effigy as King he will be facing left. It’s therefore no coincidence this portrait has him facing right.

True, good point :) And I guess merely flipping the image is not an option, because it wouldn't be true to life. So he'll get a brand new portrait for his first sovereign. We might see this within the next few years, the poor Queen is dealing with so much family drama, it must be taking a toll on her.

Not to mention that they messed up with his ear, it's nowhere near big enought, if Charles taught himself to flap them, he'd save the tax payer an absolue fortune in travel expenses.
