I'd be looking at temp staff tbh, looks like the account was setup, did a few purchases then disappeared.
Could be a good lesson to ebay sellers though, be wary of posting to company addresses and accounts that are not well established.

If ive searched it right, looks like they are no longer a user and had only been around since Jan 23 with limited feedback.  

Looking at their books just adds to this imo, they're risking a million-pound company for 2k.  I'd probably visit and talk to them, very odd.

Cant help but think this has been done by a dodgy employee or some other scam.  Would be pretty mental for a company director/qualified accountant to do a scam for this kind of money.

I had a few people over for dinner last night and you are right that's all they are interested in. I prefer to watch other countries to see how they are responding (especially the French) I find it easier to gauge how bad a situation is. 
There are a couple of guys at work who think outside the box but won't protect themselves in any way, I think they just like the controversial talk.

If you really want it hallmarked send it back in for another assay and engraving! Puts a cost against the value of it for you but I imagine it's a keeper for you anyway? A hallmark on such an ungainly thing (and I mean that positively) would be cool. 

A few years ago I took some scrap silver to the Sheffield Assay office and had it melted and assayed. They even send the drilling chaff back from when they test it in multiple areas. This is what came back. It has a neanderthal beauty about it I feel ( bit like a mother with an ugly baby).  Makes for an interesting  door stop I guess. Do wish I had it hallmarked though
