  1. Bring back very basic please (with caps though). The large presentation boxes need to be stored somewhere safe and I like my store small and compact. How about a boxless proof issue and we can choose our own packaging?
  2. You should be OK if you've still got a record of the tracking number which comes with signed for.
  3. Thanks Dave. Do you have a link for the clip above? It looks like its possibly the Royal mint but I can't find it. I ask because a photo above shows one with a CoA numbered 1118.
  4. And also 2016... So it seems that some of the Brilliant Uncirculated coins for 2014, 2015 and 2016 have been minted using one half of a proof die. Once a mistake, twice a coincidence but three times is surely deliberate. Thinking out aloud, the cynic in me says the Royal Mint just couldn't be bothered making "Brilliant Uncirculated" dies for 2014 (or even 2015 and 16), lets just use a spare proof reverse and bullion obverse we have lying around.... 😃 Does anyone out there have a 2014, 2015 or 2016 Brilliant Uncirculated coin (the box version with CoA) and is it a normal version (Brilliant Uncirculated both sides) or are they all mule versions?
  5. One of these has just sold on the forum at a very good price. Marsh/Hill doesn't list it in "The Gold Sovereign" and I've been searching the internet for more information but there isn't much to gather. What I did notice was nearly everything I found was related to the mule version compared to the normal version. Is it possible that all of the 2014 Brilliant Uncirculated issued coins are actually mule versions? I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has a 2014 Brilliant Uncirculated coin (the box version with CoA) and whether they have a normal version or the mule version.
  6. My order is still open too, just what are the royal mint playing at?
  7. Very good idea guys, TSF community spirit wins again!
  8. Hello and welcome to the forum. Nice photos too.
  9. Bog standard bullion version, usual Royal Mint quality 😃
  10. No need to attempt to insult, I'm just joining in to the guessing game.
  11. My guess is the recent GBP spot upward spike is driven by the BoE interest rate status and the downward GBP/USD exchange rate. It'll probably settle down to meet the USD spot price moving average. So I'm saying down.
  12. Nay, may be more beer required... 😀
  13. Yes, nice condition too. It was an online auction purchase (not eBay though).
  14. Based on the photos I'd say this coin is in a finer grade than the 1866 you are selling. My valuation of this 1869 is £360 - £380
  15. Was that a proposal and an acceptance then! 😀
  16. It wasn't your regular house clearance sweet tin either, the coin was mixed in with "several British hammered gold coins." 😀
  17. Excuse me gents but I think you're right and it is a 1917 London, please accept my apologies. I've just shrunk an image of my own 1917S down to the same resolution and put mine above the Atkinsons coin, just for comparison.
  18. Here's the image, courtesy of Atkinsons. Looks like an S in the ground over the date to me, although admittedly the photo is low resolution and it's not strikingly obvious.
  19. Yes, seems like the obvious thing to do if you've got the right skills and I imagine it's been tried. I wonder if it's been done successfully? The photos for this coin are of a Sydney mint sovereign, perhaps it was just a genuine mistake with the description. The London 1917 sold by TCC this month went for £18,500, a little more than the Atkinson version for £342.62 😀
  20. Italian gold 20 Lire, 1863, Vittorio Emanuele II.
  21. The auction estimate is £200,000 for an old US shilling found in a sweet tin. I'm just over to eBay to check out that house clearance collection of coins 😀 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-58982457
  22. They've got some lovely coins, I could be parting with some money. Look at this Athenian beauty:
  23. Ever watched any of BYB videos? I can't concentrate on what he's saying because internally I'm screaming "wear some gloves!"
