  1. I'm sure there will be but I don't know an easy solution. This link has several download options, including a text version, but it looks like OCR output and it's not been proof read or corrected..... https://archive.org/details/royalmint01anse
  2. Well, I've had a good look and managed to find 2 downloadable copies. The 1st link is to google books and gives you what I believe is the 1st edition, running to 145 pages long. Hit "Download PDF" for a standalone version: https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/The_Royal_Mint/b1ZKAAAAYAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=0 The next link is to the copy I've been using, a 3rd edition, running to 236 pages long with PDF and Kindle version to download (plus others): https://archive.org/details/royalmint01anse
  3. There's a pdf version of The Royal Mint by Ansell that I've downloaded from the internet. I'll have a look later and see if I can find the link and post it, don't want you to strain your eyes 🤓
  4. The premium for a bullion half sovereign is in the ball park of 6-8% over spot. This price is good for your veiled head Victoria as well as Edward VII, George V and the newer minty ones. Anything older than this and the premiums start to rise. Condition is everything though, watch out for ex jewellery halves from this period, which is a lower grade (and price range) than standard bullion. There's a good few of them around, with polished and worn surfaces.
  5. I see you've got your name and date ready for the sales photo! 😀
  6. Nice one, thank you for the update. I'll sit tight and wait..
  7. Thanks for the update, I'll sit tight and wait and update the thread when the order arrives.
  8. Did your 2022 sovereign arrive? I placed a pre-order with them back in early January and I've had no calls or coins yet 🙁
  9. Very nice! I notice there a few barnacles attached for provenance too....😀
  10. I agree, you're probably not going to pick up a bargain as a buyer, but there is the potential for sellers to increase their profits, especially with 0% sellers fees. To test the system and try and extract more info I tried consigning a coin but the Royal Mint website returns an error, it's not working for me.
  11. I've just received an email from The Royal Mint promoting their coin auctions with a potential sellers fee of 0%. That's the lowest auction sellers fee I've seen and on first appearance looks like a great deal. Anyone any experience to share or used this service yet? https://www.royalmint.com/collect/auction/
  12. Looks like the only investments I'll be making will be in wine and sherry then....😃 Shame really, I've hardly bought any silver recently because of the added VAT.
  13. I'm planning to visit Marbella, Spain, in a few weeks. It's my first trip abroad since the loss of VAT free imports and I'm wondering if I could make it an opportunity to buy some cheap silver coins. The questions I have are: Can I buy VAT free silver coins there? Are there any coins shops local to Gibraltar or Marbella or Malaga? And do I have to declare them on arrival back in the UK?
  14. And hello from Great Britain, welcome aboard!
  15. My first reference point is "The Gold Sovereign" by Marsh. If I don't have it to hand then my next reference is here, though it's not complete: https://onlinecoin.club/Coins/Country/United_Kingdom/ The Numista website can be useful too, but I don't find it simple to navigate: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/royaume-uni-1.html
  16. Nice expression, made me smile and brings back memories. I was the youngest child and remember being told I was "the last shake of the bag" 😀
  17. Selling your PM's during a credit crisis is probably best answered by a bullion dealer who has lived and traded through those times. There are a few on the forum who could give you a good answer, hopefully they'll read the thread and reply.
  18. You can buy air tite tubes and capsules here from morezone:
  19. Some nice sixpences. First one is George II, 1757. Then a Victorian 1887 with variety I over R and lastly another 1887 with variety R over V.
  20. Thanks for the tip. Like yourself I registered with the same email and it associated it to my "old" account with all my previous purchases etc.
  21. Thanks for trying your own login, must be something specific with my account then. I'll get onto them.
  22. Looks like they've just updated their website but I can't login to my account anymore. I've emailed them without reply. I've tried resetting my password but it doesn't recognise my email address. Anyone else having problems accessing TCC account?
