  1. Because it's the one with the most errors? , joking of course, I'd recently received the Chards email and it was fresh in my mind.
  2. As an old man...I think you should put your energy here. Maybe you will inherit property, maybe you won't? Your parents might outlive you! You need a place to live, so make it your own. If things get tough in retirement, you have an asset to fall back on. You could rent out your garage, your driveway, a spare room maybe? International students, airb&b etc. I can't imagine entering retirement without a property I own, sorry 😔
  3. I have a holding on bullionvault and it went up! Can sell @ £1346 Tidy profit 👍

    Enhanced or Ruined?

BYB/James' melt pot Never been a fan of artificial toning but, so what, it's yours and you can do what you like! 👍
  5. Indeed, it's always best to know which side one's bread is buttered. Re: the screwdriver, my keys were allowed and I could do a lot more damage with those, if I were so inclined.
  6. Why would a person be in possession of a butter knife when travelling abroad? Had you packed crumpets too? Now, there's an alibi I used to carry a micro screwdriver in my wallet because my glasses were forever loose. Used to 😔
  7. The Canadian grizzly bear that Chards list is specified as being 1000g (1 KG). 1 kilo for £37.59. Nice. If I click add to basket and buy now, will you honour the sale @LawrenceChard?
  8. Me mate Denzil swears by the Peugeot/Citroen motor, he's run them for years. He once put a 2.1(?) in the back of his T2 camper. Apart from tanks, I hadn't heard of diesels running on oil until I saw a Fiat Ducato 2.8 self destruct when its turbo seals failed. Back to silver
  9. It would be good enough for me, if I were in the market for silver. You've dealt with old and new members on here without complaint, on the contrary, members speak highly of you when doing trades. Use the suggested format if you are unsure of wording. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from you if the product was what I was after, and priced well!!
  10. You're talking rot again, that's my opinion. I have a number of these in 1g assay cards and the average cost is @ £42.48 per gram. Now, look at what these change hands for, there's profit to be made. 10%? 15%? Compare that to an ounce bar.
  11. This is another reason for joining the forum as a premium member and building up feedback- I'll use myself as an example. 😇 Let's say I need money fast and wish to liquidate some silver, but it's 11pm and a weekend or my silver is in storage. If I advertise it here for spot price, it will sell immediately and the money could be in my account within minutes. The buyer can 'trust' that I will post the silver at the earliest opportunity and that they will receive the item(s) that they paid for. No dealer 'insults'. Likewise, I am happy to pay for items that I will receive at a much later date. I do it all the time, it's all about building relationships and understanding TSF feedback system. Your reputation is everything where trade is concerned.
  12. 'With a K and an E and a double T, and an E and an R and an ING' Up the Poppies!
  13. Your Mills and Boon Annual 2022? Is it out already?
  14. Me too! Touchers unite! The pleasure of owning coins is both visual and tactile, 'holding history in your hand', to quote an oft' used phrase. You won't get that (shouldn't?) with a modern proof, so grade away I say! The dilemma with older coins, I feel, is the collector's paranoia that he/she has bought a fake/counterfeit coin. One should be able to spot a fake, I hear from the back, but these forgers were clever buggers and can fool even the experts at times. Buying a fake 1887 quintuple for example is going to hurt. So I can understand a preference for graded coins where the possibility of fakes are concerned, assuming of course the graders will stand by their evaluation.
  15. It will take me some time to digest! Thanks. 'Valiu uses pesos to buy cryptocurrency that it then sells on LocalBitcoins, a global peer-to-peer site for trading tokens in local currencies.' Needs electricity/internet. "When the power is out in Venezuela, when internet service is down, it has a huge impact on how long it takes to send a remittance to one's family," said Toro. Agreed. "(Now) I don't have to worry about whether the cell signal dropped in Venezuela, or if cell service drops here." Contradictory? "Valiu buys and sells bitcoin instead of directly exchanging pesos to bolivars because of the lack of availability of that currency in regulated marketplaces," Not without power/the Internet, it doesn't. "Nobody is going to tell you 'every night when we do the books, we convert bolivars into bitcoin,' but yes, this is happening." Today, but when the power goes off? I don't get your point? As Dan said, 'In an electricity blackout, or global internet outage, crypto is completely useless.'
  16. Have you seen the article about Venezuela? https://financialpost.com/news/economy/in-venezuela-people-break-off-flakes-of-gold-to-pay-for-meals-and-haircuts I'd say the S has HTF there. 'The small-time operators of illegal mines typically pay day labourers in nuggets, so there’s plenty of bullion to be had. That steady supply, coupled with internet reception that’s so shoddy that digital transactions are nearly impossible, makes gold the least-bad option for locals.' Crypto doesn't work, fiat is worthless yet holding gold (and silver I'm sure) means people can eat.
  17. Was that when you transferred them from the boot of your car to the hull of Jose's fishing boat? Remember, the day of the storm? 😉
  18. Indeed, the listing is clear. Usual library photo though! 'This photograph shows the type of coin you will receive, not the exact item.'
  19. Well, I hope it was a 'S' 'cos I'd be gutted if it were a London sov! Would complete my 1917 collection. Chaps, Chris @SVcollector lists a 1917 London graded as one of his stolen coins. Do you think it's possible that this coin could've been bust out the slab and sold as bullion to Atkinsons? Surely, the staff would know what they were looking at? Just fantasy, but a possible lead in a case that seems to have gone cold? 1917 George V London MS62 cert 35779561
  20. Whoa! Oldies like crypto too, just we don't have the luxury of time to recover should things go pear-shaped! But it's a risk worth taking, within reason.
  21. The trouble is, everyone knows too much nowadays. They know all about economics, the banking system, the welfare state, credit lines, Robin Hood, wallstreetbets et al. when all they need to know is how to have fun. Look, work for 40 hrs a week, go bingo or darts on a Wednesday and have a couple of pints on a Friday. Take the kids swimming or the park on a Saturday and have a family lunch followed by football on a Sunday. Repeat. Put a little bit away each week and go to Butlins, or Benidorm if you're a manager, in the summer. Maybe hire a caravan in Hunstanton or Newquay, or Whitby if you're from those parts. Join the Christmas Club in September. Why does everything have to be so bloody complicated?!
